My guess among the limited listing of the board selection, that salt (and similarly iron) is generally far easier to produce locally, so not as much in demand or traded as the other commodities listed in the interstellar economy among the various types of populated star systems.

I'd have to say it's abundant in both and agree that it would be practically worthless as a commodity for exactly that reason.
