Going mad trying to find these mats

Just need a few Heat Resistant Ceramics and High Density Composites, and I've followed the Inara guide (low sec USS) but all I could find were encoded emissions, and some forum posts which said War / Civil War state High Grade Emissions USS. I must have gone into 30 of each, and not a single one of either.

I'm guessing they are super rare, but wher have people really had the most luck finding them?

Go to robigo and do the passenger missions for a day you will get shed loads of grade 5 then trade them for what you need.

Or do evacs for same result.

Or go to Sol mars high and take massacre mission for the same result plus dropped mats of your kills.

I suggest just cross trading. It is extremely easy to get a full load of g5 imperial shielding in about 20 minutes by visiting any medium-high population imperial system and following the steps in this video:

https://youtu.be/lemFjOlEb9c

0. Check nav beacon to find HGE
1. Ensure there will be more than 10 minutes left by time you arrive
2. go there and gobble
3. logout
4. login
5. immediately low wake, but hold zero thruster during countdown (so you dont fly away from HGE)
6. go to nav targets and select the closest nearby unidentified signal source. assuming the countdown didn't expire, it will be the HGE
7. perform 180 pitch turn in supercruise (can be done simultaneously with 6 if you're dextrous)
8. drop out on target (should be in range if you 0% throttled immediately upon SC) and gobble
9. goto 3

You can get most of the other manufactured G5 mats this way, imperial shielding is just easiest to find. I usually fill up on that, Core Dynamics Composites, Military Grade Alloys and one or two other G5s and just cross trade for the rest. See this for the criteria to find; i find it most useful to select all the cells and sort by column B then D: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Mp7l0bSnMp_G7xWUm75M-XuihDfTdi27rm-vB9K8AX0

Just as a side note. Since you are looking for small-ish quantities, have you been to an appropriate Materials Trader? Maybe you have a few mats you could trade for what you need.

The easiest way to gather mats imo is to take high ranked assassination missions and scoop up the mats from the wreckage after the target has been killed.
You may not get what you want but you will get something you can trade.

A collector limpet comes in handy.

I'm not really high enough rank in anything to get or do high rank missions ;)

The mats trader was what I used after getting some G5 and G4 goodies from Davs Hope.

3 days of madly rushing doing some much needed Engineering has got the good ship Chimp 1 ready for Distant Worlds. Cheers dears.

.

There are no G5 materials dropped at Dav's Hope, G4 are the rarest.

I am posting this just so people don't go there in hope (geddit?) only to be disappointed / enraged. ;)

High Density Comps are a dime a dozen in CZs.
This morning I made a small collecting session at the CG by putting a collector limpet controller in my battleship.
In ~40 min I collect 94 materials, from these were 8 HD-Comps. So about one every 5 min
No Heat Resistant Ceras though, but plengty of conductive Ceras

Encoded emissions do contain grade 4 materials often enough. If you're trying to stock up on materials, going through those rather than aimlessly hoping for high grades is probably a more efficient way to handle things, even after getting robbed by the material trader.

Dav's hope was put there by the dev's. Its there for all to use and the devs know about it. The problem with most players is they want everything handed to them and there to lazy to actually go hunting for the mats. If i spend 5 hrs a day for 5 days i can have every single mat excluding the thargoid stuff maxed out. Its really not that hard to do but like i said most of you new players want everything handed to you on a silver plate.

Like i said before to lazy to go get all the stuff you need, plus your way takes way to long and you need more than a 20 stack of mats for all the eng stuff. Been playing the game since release and trial and error its way faster just to hit dav's hope, then orrere aka crashed anaconda, then rock smash, then hgs. You may take 5 day's this way but in the end you will have tons of mats and be able to actually play the game.

I was struggling to find HGE USS's today and decided to head off to Dav's Hope in frustration. I set a route faction filter in the galaxy map to "boom" and plotted a route. I was only 4 jumps away from DH but in the first 2 systems on route I found HGEs ... one with a 40 minute timer. Filled up using rinse & repeat and didn't even need DH anymore so headed off to a station with a raw mat trader and a remote workshop. After a little mat trading I set to work on my partially complete pinned blueprint. Completed level 4 and to my dismay realised that doing this remotely did not increase rep with the engineer so couldn't move onto level 5 ... so now having to grind some explo data to rep up with that engineer at his base to finish the job. With one hand ED gives ... and with the other it takes away!

Why would doing a mod remotely cause increase in "favour" (so access level increase) with the engineer? - You are not using them so you are not providing them with materials or work.
