Is it weird that I'm not excited about season 4?

I honestly ceased to care that much. I fired up E-D for the first time in weeks, sat on the landing pad for a few minutes and logged out.

Quite simply, other stuff has captured my interest much more than anything bolted onto E-D could possibly add.

LOL! rep++.

I did a similar thing last night. Updated ED, logged in and looked at the panels to remind me of my status and logged out.
Haven't played for months.
Not even void opals can entice me to play much less the easy money to be had.

Season 4 is probably just the "No further updates" announcement.

People on console and PC have said how dead open is compared to before.

I'm sure a few still have rose colored glasses on and say everything is fine..

Open=\= the entire game. I can't comment on whether fewer play in open than before however every one of my friends who still play the game no longer play in open. They still play tho now and again and this should be all FD care about really.

Don't get me wrong I have issues with the game but even IF open is dying (and I am not qualified to say it is) it does not mean the GAME is. Indeed whilst Indo not take much stock in steam stats isn't steam numbers at their record highest around now?

No. They peaked to their 2nd highest after the update, but they're well on their way back down to pre-patch slump again now.

Like many I am curious, but not excited. And even if they announce a huge thing, I shall contain my excitement until details are known. It is not too late to tie up the loose ends. ED has given me many hours of wonder and excitement, so I will not complain.

I would love to be positively surprised of course.

And for the record, I do think the latest update was solid. I am not playing it regularly but probably will lateron.

I will be honest (and yes I am totally biased as I really don't like the economy in ED in the last ylfew years) but I must admit I am very worried about the void opals and passenger missions and elw in bubble "exploration)". I speak mostly for myself but once I get access to all the toys in a game the novelty wears off (eg when I got a thargoid ship in 1st encounters). I wonder if the other shoe will fall when the new billionaire "elite" traders and explorers own everything in the game and they can do everything without even thinking about it <shrugs>

Let's fix those glasses quick

FDev has frequently said open was the most popular mode.

So if open population is suffering. It is safe to say the population as a whole is suffering.

So would you like to be sharing this evidence that any mode is suffering pop wise? Only stats we have access to are the steam charts which show a healthy increase in numbers. Or is it just 'some people' say sort of proof, if so I have seen plenty of people in open recently so the game must be fine.[up] #ScienceOfDoomedTingz

Glasses? Dude don't be a prat!.
The point is everyone I play with now totally ignore open . Maybe those stats you quote were when they still sometimes played open.
But they haven't ditched to game they have just ditched open. I see as many players in game as I ever did .

Maybe the game IS dying I am not making claims either way , hell I am not playing it anywhere near as much myself but your logic is flawed and my experience is that I see as many around as I used to in game.

The problem. Is one man's wine is another's vinegar. The reason I personally am not playing right now is the main reason a lot of people are claiming they are enjoying the game again (void opals or what ever they are called)

Steam charts are dropping again.

I mean. Think that way if you want too. But unless FDev brings some real content to the table. There's a good chance there won't be enough players to support it.

I doubt close the servers but they need to make money, if the game isnt generating enough income, they won't add significant updates or patches.

Why do you think all we get is new ships and repaired in game content?

I do agree the game is desperately in need of a new premium expansion, it's certainly way past schedule.
I guess it's a whole chicken and egg thing regarding income. Got to fertilise the soil to grow the crop etc

Same here. Among the people I know in game, hardly any play in Open unless it's necessary: for example when meeting people not having a PG in common. By avoiding Open we get better opportunity to focus on what we want to do without interruption, and better instancing and game performance.

Because that was what we asked for and that's what they told us we where getting at 2017 expo. Some people like to simply forget stuff just to suit an argument.

The five years they've spent have been on producing what we have today, and they have done an excellenrt job to date, imo. There is still plenty of scope for development, but the game is in a much better state than it was five years ago. It's not bedroom tech anymore,it's i-want tech.I hope that it will continue to develop as organically in the future as it has in the past and that the pace of development is not affected by the clamours of disgruntlement from the critical mass, and will continue to accelerate toward escape velocity.

They spent five years on RNG grind, imbalanced combat, barren brown rocks and repetitive missions that would not qualify for Side Quest material in modern games.

But sure. Everything is fine.
