A couple small issues with planetary landings

So, recently after returning to the game after a break, I was gathering some materials to engineer my new Mamba when I noticed a couple issues. First, the little sound the games makes to notify you when you are right under SRV port seems barely audible now. It was pretty subtle before, but seriously, now you can barely hear it at all. Maybe I'm deaf, I dunno. Also, twice, after leaving planetary surfaces, my pips were reset. Was this always a thing? Because I don't remember this happening before. Anybody else notice this, or is it just me?

I've never heard a sound for the SRV bay, will have to pay more attention. There's bug reports for the pips thing. There's an infestation of bugs at the moment, like the BGS being apparently broken, or being unable to log in if logging out at in Aegis megaship ship in a system attacked by Thargoids, but they're mostly not more than annoying.

Nothing to add, just glad I'm not the only one who wasn't aware of the sound. I know some of the audio in this game is very quiet, but I've never heard an SRV alignment sound. I always judge it with a combination of looking up through the SRV canopy (TrackIR), and looking for the blue light on the HUD. To be honest if there is a quiet sound associated with this it's no wonder I've missed it, because mostly what I'm hearing at that point is the skidding sound if I've approached too quickly and had to slam on the parking brake, and/or the engine revving up and down as I repeatedly move back and forth overshooting the sweet spot.

The pips reset is a change in 3.3. When you leave the ship & return it will always have pips set to 402 now, even if you don't dismiss it. Previously it would reset to 240 when recalling the ship.

402 (or 420/411) is better than 240 in terms of contingency management (full power to shields). I am in the habit of setting my ship to 420 on landing anyway, the new behaviour is preferable to the old.

Haven't noticed an audible indicator for being aligned with the hatch for years, I do remember there used to be one. The docking hologram should extend to the ground imo.

You need it if you fly something like anaconda where even if the ship lands level the SRV bay can be somewhere up in the air. Even with the sound its a pinta to get in occasionally.

Badly worded on my part. It reads as though there's something visible above you. I meant the BOARD SHIP element on the interface, below the fuel gauge. I divide my attention between the ship outside the window, and that indicator, when aligning for SRV retrieval. Sometimes to great success, but mostly not.

(And of course the element may not be blue, depending on what you've done to the HUD colours).

Not meddling with my setting would be better still.
+1
I could set them that way myself if I wanted them that way, which I don't. I seldom have my power distributor even turned on so when I'm fleeing the planetary surface I have to wait for it to reboot before I can boost away. Almost been killed twice by this "feature". I like managing my power. I like having just enough of a power plant. I like turning off things I don't need and setting priorities in case I do. It's bad enough you have to keep your SRV bay powered after you dismiss your ship and it really sucks when you have to totally redesign all your ships with more power in order to land properly because your whiny ship want's all it's modules to be able to be powered simultaneously whether they're needed or not.
I often don't use shields. I set my PD to 240 then shut it off. Even if I feel I need my shields for a bit I still don't need to turn on the PD. It feels like a patronizing attempt at persuading me to play "their" way rather than my own.

I'd much prefer it if they didn't touch my settings; there's no point in setting pips to 420 when I have no bleedin weapons!

I've never heard any sound at boarding location. Maybe I'm deaf too!

About the pips, I reported that bug since Public Beta DAY 1 (let's say DAY2, the servers were down as usual on DAY1 :p) , I don't know why it has not been fixed yet...

Bottom right of the HUD three indicators.
Top is the Board Ship which comes on when you are in an acceptable position.
Middle is the Hand Brake warning light comes on when you have put the hand brake on.
Bottom is the Cargo Scoop indicator which comes on when the cargo scoop is deployed.

I am not sure if there used to be a sound or not, but if there was it went a while ago I think.

Recovering back to the ship used to take me ages before I found the indicator inching forward and checking the menu to see if the option was available.
