How to win an election in 3.3?

Hello commanders,

we have had no success in winning an election so far. Everything we try seems to have no effect. So, did anyone of you have success? And if so, how did you achieve it?

Do missions need to be taken from the station which can be taken over by winning the election?
Or don't missions count and we need to take part in scenarios?
Did you win in a system where your faction already controls an asset, or did you not own anything?

Thanks for your help, Mokel

We have won elections in systems we own, and systems we own nothing.
Delivery and Fetch missions have worked, and Exp data if you own the base.
Smuggling has not worked.
We have seen Planet Scan missions not work, which might be correct, might be because it was a Chain mission, or might just be bugged. Things are still very bugged.

Delivery did not work for us. Actually nothing we did worked at all. Everything seemed so...random. If somebody has a reliable way to win elections...well...please share! :)

Did you try working for your opponent? :)

We have had elections work fine and other elections produce impossible outcomes considering the level of effort.

Same actions giving different results.

We won our first Election after 3.3 went live (for System control no less) without a fuss. We had one asset in that System already.

Next Election was lost regardless what we tried in another System for System control as well. We have no assets there at all.

Current Election in yet another System is going fine again and will most likely be won. We have had System control in that one before 3.3 dropped.

So as others said it currently is very random.

I'm a squadron-mate by Mokel and Yes, we also tried to work against us to see what happens. Same, dissapointing result, unfortunatly. We delivered poll-data and every delivery-mission that mentioned "for democracy". We tried Inf+++++ missions and Rep++-missions without success.

We still don't own a station yet and as long as elections are, obvioulsy, bugged, we struggle to gain control over the wanted system. Oddily enough, if we are the controlling faction, elections seems to work fine.

So as long as noone has a solution, we have to try to trigger one war after the other, to get a stronghold.

Why can't things ever be easy?[blah]

There seem to be some major issues with transactions and who gets credit but so far I haven't been able to pin it to one type or location. We too had issues, we almost lost a system in election. Just barely got back to a draw.

It almost felt random. We did the same thing one day as the next but with different outcomes. We we're doing hundreds of transactions a day, and still losing and then a lot fewer the next and winning. It's just bizzare.

What kind of missions?

Mission target effects are currently bugged, all the ones that are supposed to hurt the target, help the target. - but these shouldnt matter in election. We suspect a bug where the station owner gets the benefit in certain circumstances.

Oddily, the faction we were in election with was not the controlling faction and only held an outpost in said system.

Dear commander!
We won the election by exclusively carrying out the courier missions of our faction. The "Election" period of 7 days, not always exactly in the news and charts displayed our influence, but the end result was what we expected.

I have the next question to experts:
What kind of missions you need to complete in the period of "preparation for elections" ???

No actions of any kind should have any effect on influence or the outcome of the election in the Pending phase.

Thank you for your attention to my message.
Then I do not understand what action needs to make a "faction" in this period and why the period of "pending election" is needed?

Its a very good question, with no sensible rationale for it to be any more than 1 day.
All I can think of is that one of FD's tenets is that "People who dont play at the weekend should not be disadvantaged".
Its stupid, and boring, even more so now that influence is locked immediately.

To clarify conflict states (election included)
When you match influence, it goes PENDING and all influence changes are stopped for the duration of the pending+active state
You then have a period of days which you need to "win" on a daily basis to be awarded a win in the conflict. your influence won't move, but the ++++ etc now count toward winning your day total.
In the details on your faction, it will show whether you in the previous day achieved a win, draw or loss.
Rack up enough wins and you will win the war/election. You are then awarded a boost of 4 percentage points in influence at the expense of 4 down for your opposition, giving you an 8% gap.
At the point you win/lose, your influence is unpegged and can move again.

Report: started an election the day before yesterday, done some dedicated missions for the npc faction we are supporting, it works! Won one day, close victory for that faction.

Also - there is STRONG evidence that there has been a bit of a nerf on large actions by a single commander - effectively a "diminishing returns" thing, as there was for trading about a year ago. It appears to be designed to prevent one person propping up/mashing down a single faction in the face of many commanders working against them. For instance, large data drops - there's a "limit" to how much 1 person affects a system now - better to have 10 people drop 1m than 1 person drop 10 (probably larger than that actually - 10m x10 people vs 100m x 1). This appears to affect trade, explo data and POSSIBLY bounties....
