Hi
I realise FD have to make money on the side etc however i dunno about you guys but to me, having cosmetics that we buy out of game means they mean nothing to me. i have not even bothered to put on some of the ones i bought - even as far back as a year ago.
(I personally preferred the suggestion in kickstarter about everything earnable with in game credits but that credits would be sold on the store - but i know others feel different and that ship has sailed - and this thread is not about that so please dont derail i accept i am a minority here)
however just a pie in the sky thought.
IF FD offered an optional "upgrade" to our account, how would people feel.
A "1 off" payment of (for arguments sake and amount up for discussion) of say £50 - with a 50% reduction for LTP owners and then it meant that all missions in the game as well as specific activities in the game have a chance of a reward being given of a random cosmetic - that we do not already own.
this would only be available to those who paid the money if not it just would not be activated and so not visible to them in game.
Brand new cosmetics made by FD could either appear right away OR IF FD felt they were really cool "exclusive" ones then they could have maybe a 6 - 12 month store exclusivity before they are added into the pool.
the top tier cosmetics (again for arguments sake like the braben bobblehead, wire frame cobra etc) would be the equivalent of "oranges" and be rarer and the chances of dropping a "rare" could be higher on harder missions.
there would also be things like a hutton mug bobblehead for delivering maybe 100 tons of scrap to hutton orbital etc..
Now just to close off, this isnt about me being tight and not wanting to pay for skins... for me it is all about the fact that i want to earn my skins ingame, but accepting the fact that money from cosmetics is built into how FD fund the game. whilst i know there are a few whales who have spent loads on cosmetics i suspect the average amount spent is FAR less than the £50/£25 i suggested about.
apart from anything else this would scratch my "gotta collect em all" itch esp if we could open a panel and see all the skins on a screen lit up if we had them or shadowed if not, kind of like a bobblehead /trophy cupboard. I know it is not much but this would keep me playing for many more hrs after getting to elite etc
what do you reckon.
