Please allow to permanently disable Solo and Group mode per account.

I am trying to play mostly in Open and treat Elite as MMO game, but it is tempting to switch to Solo or Group mode from time to time, just to make game easier. I would like to permanently ban Solo and Group mode on account and force myself to play Open all the time. I think many Open players will follow this path . It would rise difficulty and threat level for most hardcore players. What do you think about that?

I always play in Open and am quite capable of managing any urge to 'avoid danger' by using Solo. However, my son and his friends play in a PG, and I finally tried a PG for the DW2 launch - not to avoid anything, rather to find other people. As a committed Open player, I see yurr suggested as a waste of Dev time.

That feature would be easy, but so is self-control. Do you expect your bank to manage your spending habits? Your car dealer to monitor your driving speed? The restaurant to manage your weight?
And frankly, there are some mission critical spots where a random PvP ganker could spoil hours of work to assauge his boredom. If I have a shipload of expensive hard to replace cargo or exploration data, I won't go near an engineer in Open.

That said, maybe a dead is dead mode and achievementa(s)?

This is why this concept is beautiful for me. Once you ban your Solo/Group mode you can't return. No matter how scary it is or how much you regret it. It is multiplayer game for you, without artificial simplifications.

I rather ban your idea. Because depending on how I feel when I play I rather have a choice on what I want to do. Instead of having someone suggest a idea that will affect my choice.

It's an option now, you can use that option simply by refusing to log into solo or group, I am not sure of your issue, you don't have self control, you accidentally log into the wrong mode, you get scared of other players and want to run away?

Why would FDEV go to all the trouble for something that's already available and that has been requested by one player, seriously, one player. Do you know much time they would spend on trivial requests if they redesigned menus and game options for each request made by a single player? I want atmospheric landing ASAP, not in 3304!

Here the thing. I play Ironman mode. I rather have Frontier use their resource to make better gameplay. Then something I choose to do. It not hard for me to go. Oh, man, I died again let me restart it back to a sidewinder. It requires more work than your idea. Log out. Locate my Save file and Delete it.

It the same thing with your idea. You can choose to play only in the open mode. All you have to do is when you log in click Open mode.

Thank you, I was just about to post that in my experience in working with devs, there is no such thing as an "easy fix"

OP, if you install an upgrade on your self-discipline you will be able to play in Open permanently without wasting any dev-time whatsoever!

Would it be reversible? Only on destruction? Or will it remain the same for the lifetime of the account? People change their mind, that is not a bad thing. If it can be reversed (even with a timer until it can be changed again), there is not much difference to the way it is right now.

Although I would not mind a command line parameter like the /EDH for Horizons. If people really want that, they can choose it with a modified launcher shortcut. Still reversible but a bit more involved, it might satisfy Cmdrs asking for this.

It's a discipline thing. If you don't want to be tempted, resist it. If you fall too easily into Solo because that's easier than flying into an Engineer's location then you need to re-think strategy.

Just keep repeating this Mantra over and over: "I will not use Solo or PG. Use of this is the result of fear. Fear is the Mind Killer....." etc. You'll be fine.
