Hi folks

There still seems to be quite a few people out there who are struggling to get on in this great game and are still stuck with a sidewinder. Although the sidewinder is a really nice ship to own, you soon wonder at the possibilities of owning a larger and more powerful ship.

So to help these people along, I thought it would be a nice gesture if the well-established (wealthy) players amongst us could donate some funds to help them in their quest to conquer the galaxy!

I am proposing that we could jettison lots of gold outside a star port or even a planet so that they can scoop it up and sell it.

I am also looking for well-armed volunteers to be able to police this activity by enforcing a sort of unofficial 'no fire zone' in the dumping area. Camping vipers etc. will be brought to justice if they try to interfere by shooting at people.

Only Sidewinders will be permitted to scoop up the gold.

I suggest a time of 9pm UK (GMT) this Sunday night.

Freeport would be the obvious location as it's right next to the starter system and has a black market. Another option is Morgor, that one seems pretty light on navy patrols outside the station.

I was thinking of dumping the gold near Chango Dock (iBootis) because it will give the sidewinders the protection of the federation and will also deter pirates. They could then go to Freeport (or other black market port) to sell it.

I can't understand why people are struggling, I've never known it so easy to make credits in Elite.

Even simple fish trade runs to the nearest dock can turn a good profit.

No, it can't. Not compared to scooping 4 canisters of gold near Freeport and selling it right away inside the station.
If security is provided I will be there with a Lakon 9 filled with gold.

Dump, then stay in the instance - they will degrade to 1% but not vanish.

Well some people are obviously not as proficient at the game as you are and there are plenty of human players around still in a sidewinder. So how about helping them out?

freeport gets my vote as well, its a nice quick turn around as the sidewinder pilots can scoop dock and sell without having to spend any time in HS or SC.

if i can get in the same instance i'll be there with my anaconda as security, i may drop some gold but i'm under 3 mil right now so need to be careful how much i give away.

as to the issue of struggling, a lot of people joined after the beta started and profits per tonne did drop like a stone a few weeks back. *sigh* i remember when i first stated trading, you could make 400 creds a tonne running animal meat from Eranin to ibootis - those were the days

I'd be happy to donate and do some policing. I've got a few million to spare and like the idea.

Is it safe to say that anyone with a wanted status is free to be policed? Or should we wait to see them begin attacking a sidewinder?

Only reason that I'm still in the Sidey (or "went back to" because of insurance bugs) is that I've done my share of hauling goods in beta.

I've tried ye 'Conda in premium beta. I've smashed a couple of Lakon 9s at docking practise.

BUT. I really don't want to burn any more time/energy jumping around gathering credits from trading, credits which at some point in the future will be reset, and then do it all again in gamma/final release.

It's not that much fun.

Right now, I log in from time to time, practise some dogfighting in Eranin with the Sidey. It's alright for that. Goof around a bit.

But it's a brilliant suggestion to offer gold to those in need. I support it.

Well I've got about half a million in credits so I'll just be buying gold and dumping it. I still think Chango Dock is a better place to do it, inside the 'no fire zone'.

I'll be dumping it slowly (one at a time) and only if i see sidewinders around.

I would welcome any help from Anaconda owners to keep an eye on things and to mainly keep the peace.

I'm on night shift at the hospital so won't benefit me personally but I'm in my wonderful hauler making lots of money anyway now. Great for the new guys/ gals though!

and if you dump multiple canisters possibly a bug.
I couldn't pay stacked up fines in 1,03
so ist a good test to see if this is solved.
but I bet that wasn't your intention.

I dumped over 700 tons in 1.03 and then the peeep hit the fan.
every 24 hours I would show up wanted.

this besides from the local police forces scanning for illegal cargo.
which would endanger the scooping side winders.

so far outside lp 98 would be more successful , unless you are setting up a trap

anyone else suddenly thinking this would be a good time to give private groups a good test? we are here to help new/struggling players, not deliver them into the hands of pirates

i know we dont agree on what you are doing there but can we declare freeport a no fire zone just for a few hours on Sunday? I'd rather dump 500k of gold than be forced to dump 160k of missiles

let the head that isn't wearing an eye patchy take charge for a few hours

OK I have a solution to dump it around one of the planets in the LP 98-132 system. Maybe LP 98-132 2.

If people want to spoil it by shooting at sidewinders then fair enough. I'll be in silent running mode from time to time taking names of the perpetrators.

If people are still struggling in this Beta, then god knows whats going to happen to them in full release, I assumed that everything was made easier in the Beta.
