SLI is in... what about CrossfireX?

Latest newsletter. It was referring to the next beta

Ah. Ok. Been playing for the last few hours...
Just read it:
"The good news is that SLI support is coming in Beta 2 so you'll be able to experience it for yourself, with the appropriate equipment."

Please refer to whatever source you hear things from in the future and don't just throw things in.

Latest newsletter says SLI will be in Beta 2.0. When will X-fire be?

Clarification about Crossfire would be good.

I have two R9 295's who would love to get acquainted with a 4K screen :)

Please take a picture and show us your gear. I'd like to see how you got two of those into a mortal case. :D
My case is filled up with a watercooled i7 and GTX 690.

Here you go. Mine are also watercooled.

Sorry for the poor quality photo's. Difficult to take clear photo of a brightly lit PC.

Do you happen to be running 4K? I also am running a watercooled i7 and GTX 690 and wonder if I'll be able to get good framerates with max settings if I go 4k.

One would assume that if SLI support is being added the Xfire would also be added at the same time (I really hope so). Clarification on this would be epic. I can the go forward and start seriously considering putting my 2 R9 290X's on water and consider adding a third R9 290X after a PSU upgrade.

No haven't got one yet. Once frontier confirm Crossfire I'll add it to the basket :)

To date my purchases for ED include ... Thrustmaster Warthog, TrackIR, Saitek pro pedals , subpac and a DK2.

in for a penny, in for a LOT more than a pound !!

I dont think so. Not enough vram on the GTX 690. I have a 2560x1600 screen right now and it's the most it can take.

Running a watercooled i7 with dual GTX 680 which I'd guess comes close enough to a GTX 690.

Haven't tried 4k, but used to run ED at decent framerates on nvidia surround at 6040*1080. Granted, that is 1/3rd less pixels than 4k - but of course that's without SLI. Depending on what FD manage to squeeze out of SLI, I'd guess it should be barely playable with with a few framedrops here and there.

Good work on cutting the tube between the two cards to the right length. I cheated and used an expandable water connector between my 7970s, requiring much less precision!

I have no more information than the newsletter on this, bit as the term SLI was used and not a generic "multiple cards" I would guess that crossfire won't be in. My guess is built on the way that ATi cards have not played nicely with the engine since the beginning (there was a significant issue in alpha, old cards refused to play) and so probably need more work than the green team ones.

There are no SSD's or HDD's. If you can see in the photo I have a PCIe RaidR card, which I love.

Not a lot of storage space, but who needs that when there is only one game to install !!! :)
So its a fighter and not a cargo hauler.
