A possible future Beta update?

Good evening Commanders,

A question has popped into my mind today. We've been playing this Beta 1 or 2 for quite some time now... Have we had any news on a possible Beta update with new features yet? Perhaps something I have missed? Perhaps one of the Devs can answer this question, whether there are plans to add something new?

I do not mean to complain, I am currently having a blast with Beta 1 (sadly no Premium Beta for me), but I am looking forward to future updates.

Cheers,

Coilbone

Beta 2 release date is still unknown.
And if there will be further patches for Beta 1 they won't most likely add any new features, just fix things.

There is no solid confirmed date as of yet. I assume you are referring to beta 2. I would love to see this but I have a feeling that we may have to wait a few more weeks while the netcode, player islands and other things are tinkered with

IMO if the Beta 2 release was imminent then there would be little sense in releasing 1.04 update this week.

Probably so, but given the fact that I was unaware of the recent release of 1.04 (in the past I rarely read newsletters and patch notes, I mean before my purchase of ED), a new update seemed like a logical step. I tend to compare games in beta stages, looking at their progress, how often they patch and update is, how quickly it is becoming a full fledged game... Hence my question to the Devs here.

It is a sad trend I am starting to see in current gen games. Developers are asking money for an unfinished product, make a thousand promises, which they eventually fail to achieve. I do not mean to say Frontier will do the same thing (I certainly hope not) and I hate to step on anybody's toes... But having regular updates, no matter how small they might be gives us, the paying users, a feeling of progress in the development. Once again, this is just my humble opinion and is in no way an attack on Frontier. I do believe they are doing an outstanding job and I keep my fingers crossed they will deliver.

I myself quite like the way that the updates are being handled. I would rather the update drought for 4-6 weeks then get knocked senseless by a massive change log and then test a massive portion of newly added features.

Why the first paragraph ?
ED was backed via Kickstarter it wouldnt have been made if there were no backers prepared to put money up front with the chance that there would be no game.
There is a regular Newsletter and lots info on the forums
Your not a paying user ,you are a beta tester :)

According to the provided information (based on previous newsletters) the release is planned for the end of this year. We have newsletters published each week - this is regular update. We are helping to make the final release better not to make Beta better. Polishing Beta would waste a lot of time and resources.

You have a valid point there. I am a seriously sceptical person, so please don't mind me saying such things. I am not expecting a better Beta, I am simply wondering if it wouldn't be better to show people a bit more of the product, that's all.

Cheers,
