Where do you see ED (realistically) going over the next year? Honestly I feel 2018 is going to be a pretty tough act to follow.

2019. Plan is that we have daily threads asking 'are we there yet?' Then at some point FDev announce their plans, and then we get more 'are we there yet' threads.

Meanwhile most of us get on with enjoying the game as it is...

They will definitely have an announcement in february announcing that they'll have an announcement in march.

I think the first paid DLC will be a server structure that works. Everyone who doesn't buy the DLC will continue to fight through the servers they are using now.

The release of Horizons was extremely quick(and surprising).
Released just one year after launch, and was a massive addition.
Sadly they didn't keep up that pace, and diverted much resources to other projects.
With the focus back on Elite now and a 100 dev team working on the next expansion things may get really interesting.
