FD really hates smuggling

Mission NPCs were giving sourcing missions for illegals goods but that was apparently a bug and it's getting fixed. :S

As opposed to giving them a buff because in theory they're more difficult (not that it needs it)? This is not a bug Frontier, leave it alone.

If anything, all that needs to happen is a tag that it's an illegal mission. I don't see how these are a problem.

Is this for missions appearing in the contacts tab? Tbh Smuggling needs a big overhaul, there are missions for 50 million credits to smuggle quite small amounts of cargo, combine that with the silent running cheat, it's not great really (unless you want almost zero challenge for raking in credits)

Smuggling itself isn't a challenge, and getting caught with illegal goods just nets you an insignificant fine. I liked the illegal sourcing missions because weren't tied to the usually single anarchy faction in the system which means they popped up more reliably than the anarchy smuggling missions and because they let you turn that stuff in a few at a time, which meant you could smuggle in a small ship.

And while sourcing certain illegal goods meant a lot of money, it wasn't significantly more than many regular goods.

edit: Sorry I misunderstood your post, yeah I was talking about the contact list missions from standard factions. They were sourcing missions but for illegal goods.

Hey Driver - I have not seen these juicy smuggling missions. Can you give me a tip on the system conditions that spawn them?

Silent Running "cheat"? wellllll, easy with that cheat word, Driver =)

It does feel like a cheap get out though. Scan detected? Here's the insta fix button.

Personally I feel like losing these missions takes something from the game since I like the idea of factions being complicit in the spread of illegal goods. As others have said I'd rather the time was spent improving smuggling as a whole as I'm not sure how this 'fix' is supposed to improve the game.

A slight tangent but potentially allowable.
I would love for you to be able to access the black market at all times, not just when you have things to sell.

Why cant I smuggle illegal or illicit goods?
They are worth more but come with the risk that if scanned, I am in trouble?

To me, it doesn’t make any sense that the black market is a sale only market.

Well it is a bit of a cheat :) you can just cycle SR on and then off, that forces any ship to perform a rescan, rinse repeat until docked. Not technically a cheat, but feels like one.

@Commander Danicus - Maia and surrounding systems are best, a few around the bubble from what I have seen but I haven't taken note. Mainly hauling weapons/nerve agents/narcotics

One of my biggest disappointments with the game is how they implemented "stealth" and smuggling. Why dont we have smuggling/stealth ships? I smuggled in an anaconda for days. Come on, its huge and when I hit silent running but still take half the mail slot doesn't that get people suspicious? I'd like to see ships that are actually stealthy, inherently undetectable on radar. Or a cloaking device/holographic disguise. We have ship kits so apparently projections changing the ships appearance are a thing. And make it both risky and rewarding. Right now its Basically just trading. Boring. Huge missed opportunity.
