So, the Thargoids are going on a killing spree and the players decide to go on a jolly..

I meet them during mission Disable Megaship Turret. With my PvE Krait was able to kill small one but the big one force me to run away with some witd hull corrosion. Luckly I decided to run away with 40% so I managed heal on 20% :)

It was fun so I get some information what needs to be done to have proper ship to fight with them and decision was simple. HELL NO! Definitely too much grinding!

I already tired of collecting mats for new PvE and PvP projects.

For me they can bubble completely :)

Galactic superpowers should give us proper equipment if they feel unsafe :) or at least there should be some kind of option to be a member of military group fighting with them where you get ship for free and you can fight with them. Whenever you quit you loose possibility to use that ship.

So far looks like Bubble Politics doesn't really care so do I :p

They're technically running from the worse Thargs, and happen to be retreating through the bubble.
This is a commonly-given explanation for their actions, but:
1) An advanced hyperspace-faring species should know about the concept of turning corners and going around things. You can't usefully "hide behind" the bubble from the "worse Thargs"
2) Their trajectory through the bubble has not been anything resembling the path something trying to get through it would have taken.
3) They've been "retreating through the bubble" for over a year now and still haven't got out the other side. Even with conservative estimates of their jump speeds of 50LY/week at least some of them should have got past by now.

The text on the Guardian ruins and the old INRA and Galcop facilities suggests that they might have other reasons for poking around these parts.

When asked for a response, one pilot in a very shiny, new, Krait Phantom was reported as saying "Meh, it'll still be here when I get back, right? Right?"
They're only planning to be away for six months or so. At current rates, even if literally all the people fighting the Thargoids went on the expedition, the unopposed Thargoids would have taken out ... maybe fifty systems? Whereas if opposed at pre-DWE rates they might have only taken out 25 in that time.

Don't worry, cmdr thrust has it in hand. We don't need those explodey explorer types. ;)

Also, GARD isn't going anywhere, we'll be blasting alien scum when the time comes.

I'm sorry to say this OP, but everything about Thargoids provokes the 'meh' response along with the grind for anti-xeno weapons and PvP combat builds. Unfortunately that's how bad ED feels to me sometimes. Exploration takes that feeling away. :)

I've come to understand that the Thargoids are busy taking over the known human civilization and surrounding systems yet instead of all that the press talking about a mass exodus. All we hear about lately is some collective jolly of screen shots and a caravan of transients tootling off across the galaxy.

'Well I suppose thats what people do when there is an alien invasion happening on the door step..', said the crack onion head addicts when interviewed.

Dr Kaii.. ' Look we've been planning this for years and the entire destruction of humanity isn't gonna stop us going off on a year long jolly'.. 'We've got things to discover and one of our most recent discoveries, is gravity' (RIP those at 'The View')

What madness is this Cmdr Jonathon Pie asks..

Tim, Tim are you there?

Well, isn't that a funny coincidence that so many people head out to explore space and build a fortress and outpost for mankind in the center of the galaxy just when the Thargoids attack the bubble...
Coincidence? I think not.

Oh, that would be a nice CG.

Fly to Colonia and scrap your ship for building materials for mass shelters! Then stay there work in the mines for 20 years so you can afford yourself a new sidewinder, if you want to take off to the stars ever again.

You can buy AX weapons straight off the shelf, you are just using pretend grind as an excuse to cower behind the rest of us. Man up and get in there.

Guardian weapons are better and they are behind a grind wall, stig. It;s a valid complaint. :)

Not only that, but a couple of core modules need re-engineered compared to fighting humans, and most if not all optionals and utilities. It;s just a totally different outfitting strategy, too different, that's the complaint and I kinda share it.

I do have a ship I'm planning to use and it won't be TOO bad to do the re-engineering, and we will be fighting thargoids for humanity at some point, but I do think it could have been done better. Perhaps AX special effects for normal weapons would have been a better way to go so they weren't completely gimped against other humans.

meh the whole special weapons thing just put me off so bad. being ganked in a ship that can fight thargoids but not cmdrs is ludicrous. let it buuurn!

yep same here.

ahhh Mr thargoid, i do say old chap do you mind waiting here for 15 minutes while i go back and re-outfit my ship, we shall have fisticuffs at dawn yes?

Part of the game is customizing ships to suit their role, as much or as little as you want. My thargoid hunter just has some funky weps and a xeno scanner, aside from that its a combat chieftain.

Its only the grinders who find it all to be such a chore.

It's such a beautyful galaxy. There is no right nor wrong. Stars are born and stars implode. How are we to find what is the right thing to do ever, if not the Developers show us the way???

Let us be the eyes of the blind gods and see what they can't?

Let us do what makes us feel alive?

Let us fight each other so we are our own pest-control?

Let us all be friend and invite our predators to a meal?

Why not jump away to somwhere else?

It's a great galaxy indeed.
