Those powerful predators kill for only one reason: for survive. What about you? They're animals. Same question.

I do it for Space Jesus.

Not really "predators" - your're not killing to consume the remains, you're killing for sport. Both humans and several animal species do it.

I really do hope you follow them all the way to Beagle.

I also hope we find out how many pilots get their loot/data restored in Fleetcom.

This whole event is making a wonderful point about the game mechanics.

Within the context of what is "Elite Dangerous" I submit that gankers etc increase the perceived value of even exploration.
This logically follows since part of the value in exploration is the difficulty/rarity in getting somewhere.

Absolutely. When I look at my gal map full of PvP green markers converging on the various waypoints of the Distant Worlds Migration, I get kind of choked up thinking of the long, dangerous journey my brothers and sisters are all undertaking, all of them seeking enough sustenance to fatten and survive the long winter ahead.

In "reality" you're nothing close to a predator, but you are free to "role play" and imagine you're anything you want to be.

In reality: You're simply a gamer in an open world game who has decided to attack other gamers not looking for a fight and minding their own business.

That's it.

You're not a predator.

You're not a hero.

But you are doing something most people consider dumb and rude.

Conversely, I'm sure a minority consider it to be awesome, just like some people consider spawn camping in an FPS awesome.

To each his own.

Feel free to choose darkness and fade into the abyss with the rest of it.

I choose light.

Thanks for the considerable effort you've made to prove my point.

You cannot reasonably argue that such culling of the herds has not resulted in at least some explorers going with tougher builds.
The population is better off for it at large, with that in mind, just as in nature.

I always thought PK'ers were some of whiniest people in the forum. Which is quite an achievement with all the serial whingers, ragequitters and grindlords hanging around bleating.

The funny thing is, if they really wanted to make the expedition nervous, they shouldn't have started the ganking and forum drama from day one, but instead just followed along silently from waypoint to waypoint.

Just post some YouTube videos showing the external camera of some unseen ship within the PG at one of the regular meetups. Bonus points for having Dr Kaii's Python in the instance and visible in the shot. Then fade to black and some text that says "One Month".

But no, they had to just start ganking away in open. Sad.

New flash: When the dev's are god handing local security to higher levels at the waypoint, it's not because I or any other PvPer is "whining". It's the opposite. Our efforts our resounding painfully throughout the echo chamber that is Fleetcomm, and the pitiful cry's of it's organizers are being heard (and acted upon) all the way to Frontiers main office.

This is actually evidence of the trophic cascade.

It'd need the Jaws theme though.

The problem there is, what you're suggesting takes creativity.

Hmmm... some others might, but I don't have nearly that much self control.

Ah, here we go - Another happy tourist, satisfied with his DLG travel experience.

I would *maybe* buy this for engineering or CG decals. But it's irrelevant to exploration. Outside of hotspots, recreational player-killers are too rare to matter.
