Did Engineering Just Become More Painful? My HGE hunting safari results, post patch...

Are FD even looking at this?

HGE spawn rates are shot to hell or the system conditions for HGEs spawning have changed....either way some info from FD would be nice.

Players are wasting hours trying to find them in vain....just tell us "yes we are aware of the issue and it's...

a) being looked at
b) a new set of spawn conditions so your old methods won't work
c) BGS conditions and we think it will self adjust so be patient
d) working as intended so suck it up buttercup.

I don't often ask for an FDev response but in this case can we please get some clarification.

They don't read discussion threas, same as suggestions and bug tickets. Only those, which got some hundreds of posts or are about technical issues.

I promise you they do. I have received rep from devs for posts in DD. Some are obviously looking more than others, but the big themes of DD are definitely something the devs are aware of.

Ancillary series of books by Anne Leckie. Very good, but alas I have just finished them. I am now in that twilight zone called 'in-between books'. I now have to navigate a path towards some others. Given that I can read 3 or 4 in a week and I'm in my 50's, it gets harder. I might need to turn to redacted to wear myself out. However, the conclusion to my previous statement is just as true. I may just watch some paint dry instead. That feeling of delight when finding a grot mag in the woods when you were young, is but a distant memory. Think I might just have a sandwich instead.

Did I just say that out loud?

[haha] [haha]

There used to be a privet-hedged laneway between two streets on the way to school which often had pages of those type of magazines in it. It was a very popular route to and from school, for some reason ;)

I would be glad to know, if they have read my topic about combat fixes. But they don't even write "not planned" or "never will be" . And the topic has drown under the garbage ones like "i was pirated, it was fun" or "fss is too boring" .

The main things I want to say are:
- engineering progression doesn't bring any kind of fun to you in exchange of your player's comfort, as the participating in combat or making credits do;
- removing of an explot (only one) is meaningless, while Jameson's Cobra or Dav's Hope still exist;
- as the result, we have a "fix" with the only target to slow down players's progression, which was grindy all the time engineers exist in game

I would support FDev in case if they decided to rework a system to make it simplier and less grindy, to make those exploits meaningless, and fix them after. But they just cut off a way to play this game with comfort, and leave us face to face with the refined grind, with no alternative.

I certainly agree that they could improve the perception by communicating better on obviously critical issues. o7

Hmm, I'm was finding HGEs in a War system I was cruising in just a few days ago and topped off on Military Alloys, then after that I found Imperial Shielding and topped off on those.

I'm scanning the NAV beacons and then look for the HGE signals and off I go. Then collect, low wake, log off to main menu, log in, go into SC and look for the nearby USS and the HGE (which is persistent now for a pre-determined time) is there to be collected.

This can be done until the timer runs out on the HGE signal. TBH, I don't need the mats but collect them just the same out of habit.

The issue I have run into is that the specific mat you're looking for isn't usually the one you get. This plays into FD plan to make players rely on the Mat Trader and suffer the usurious trade rates on the high end mats, which is supposed to be "enjoyable" play.

All of this has made me loath to buy any new ships and go through engineering for new purchases. As I have played for some time now, my play style isn't what it was at the beginning, not willing to go through grind for stuff. I imagine I'm not alone in this regard.

Good luck on finding the HGEs.

To be fair, it seems to be somewhat better now. In other words same as it was before yesterday morning.

The "bug" was exactly this, they were persistent even if you emptied it. Now that they "fixed" it, you can't do the relog dance anymore. As to finding them...

Not sure what others unfortunate experiences are, I've been have great success finding HGEs these last few days I've been out collecting. I've almost filled my hold to the max on many types of grade 5's. Now if I could just find a famine system to start work on gathering Datamined wake exceptions I'd be all set. Did something happen today??? :(

If you don't mind the playstyle it's far faster to go to the jameson cobra and park in the right spot to reach all the 4 datapoints from your turret, hit them in turn, then relog, you'll get 100 Adaptive Encryptor Captures in no time (like 10 mins, plus a bunch of G4s), go trade them for 16 DWEs, repeat until insane.

They fixed that too, you can only scan them once now.

FWIW DWE were the only data mat I didn't acquire through J's crash + trade, due to ease of famine system scanning (didn't need any since 3.3 hit).

This is the first I've heard of this - did you try it yourself, and J's crash site no longer yields on relog?

I really found distribution centers to be very frustrating, very rare drop, but kudos to anyone who could stick it out. Naturally it's either that or hanging around outside busy stations in a ship called canihazwakezplz or plzhiwakekthx from now on. Wonderful.
