Expedition VI: The Longest Journey

Day 92 - Vigil In The Blackness - 65,788.34Ly from Sol

All I have to do is wait now..

Commanders Highwaywarrior and Numelror are already pushing forward and being 5-6Ly beyond Ishum's Reach
Commanders Veristhea and Idianeira are one their way but still need some "jumping" to do

(I had no feedback so far from the supporting ship - Cmdr Falcon JSDF)
You can already see Cmdr Highwaywarrior's progress here

Day 3 in super cruise begins and we crack the 11ly mark.

All systems on board are nominal. Fuel usage remains at 1.37t/hr.

The next point of interest will be as I reach the 11.7ly point - the point at which I was involved in the rescue of Cmdr Persera along with Cmdr TheUnknown1 and Cmdr ABish of the Fuel Rats. It's kind of surreal, really.

After that, the next mission milestone will be Friday 18th January 3305 when I will reach engine shutdown as I await my refuelling tanker to provide me with the 228t of fuel I will need to continue on to Cmdr Deluvian.

Day 94 - Beyond The Dark Edge - 65,788.34Ly from Sol

Couple of nights ago we had a very fruitful discussion with the Rats participating in the rescue and we all mutually agreed on the official name for this rescue.. Operation: Beyond The Dark Edge.. so much still unknown and so much patience still required.. it's hard when you're stranded for 54 days in the middle of nothingness..

Current "ratstat":

P.S. Have no update on Cmdr Falcon JSDF, but as I am offline, I do not know if he accepted my FR.. Around Saturday maybe Sunday we will do a very short bearing check. The goal is to have everybody online at the same time to lose as less O2 as possible. We also hope that Cmdr Idianeira will manage to get to Ishum's Reach by then.. a small accident delayed her quite severely, but she's been restlessly pushing forward to join the rescue team

Flight time amendment due to server crashes etc:

Actual time in SC is now 89 hrs

For my own sanity, I'm recording my own stats here rather than scribbling on pieces of paper which become meaningless after a while!

As at this time, my "day" now starts at 23:50 hrs (UTC)
Total fuel consumption so far: 120T
Fuel remaining: 648.5T

Fuel Rats Rescue Mission: Beyond The Dark Edge.
Update as at 23:40 (UTC) 18 Jan 3305.
Have reached the 32ly mark from the main star. Fuel used 189.1t, fuel remaining is 578.9t and total flight time is now 138hrs in supercruise.

My refuelling tanker is 25 hours flight time behind me and I have a further 6ly to go before reaching the rendezvous point with him.

The other 2 refuelling rats are making good progress but are still some considerable time behind us.

Given that my last bearing check with our stranded Cmdr was 32ly ago it is our intention to conduct a further bearing check with him this weekend which I will obviously live stream on my Twitch channel. (Blink and you may miss it!) I will try and provide as much notice of this event as possible.

Once I have that bearing check complete, I will continue the 6ly to the refuelling point. Obviously, any course deviation over the last 32ly is likely to have a significant impact on my fuel usage and our calculations so lets keep our fingers crossed that my large deadzones on my flight stick have worked!

Only 109ly to go now!

Good Journey, Commander.

Not quite half some of those distances, but still not where I'm going just yet either.
But then, I'm also in a full-loaded, fully equipped, full-sized module Beluga, not a stripped bare and undersized Anaconda burning G3 Jumponium and flinging myself off of every n* I see.

Commanders,

I just need to apologize that there is no update from my side and entire BC+ activity with entire rescue crew will have to be postponed till tomorrow as I got stuck at work (and there is no light in a tunnel).. as well not all of them are yet SYS+ for different reasons

I hope at least you will be able to see tonight Cmdr Highwaywarrior meeting his tanker ship.. if not, also tomorrow...

Greetings Commanders!

It has been a while since I've shown my face here, and that's because my trip has been riddled with... inconveniences. A major one was me hugging a Star near the Galactic Core, knocking me down to 32% Hull and 70% on the FSD, forcing me to return to Colonia for repairs. The return trip cost me quite a bit of time, but illness kept me from covering the distance I wanted to cover in the given time. Not to worry though, I am approaching Semotus Beacon, only 1.5 kly left to go. I did have to stop before making the final approach to collect some Germanium as I didn't bring nearly as much as I needed for the trip back home (big thank you to Cmdr Falcon JSDF for mining down hundreds of asteroids because I don't carry a mining laser/SRV).

While my role isn't nearly as significant as the roles of the others, me being the ship with the lowest fuel capacity in this rescue, I'm still more than happy to do my part, as this rescue would not be possible without my help. I wish Cmdr Veristhea and Cmdr Highwaywarrior the best of luck out there and I hope that Cmdr Deluvian is able to hold out just a little bit longer! It's an honor to partake in this rescue and I will make sure to not disappoint my fellow rats or the client!

Commander, your role is as significant as any other member of this magnificent rescue crew.. and I am not even talking about all 5 of you piloting the fuel cans.. I am talking about everybody (especially Crunchy) who planned/participated in this operation.. Let us just have patience and be successful, myself waiting for this of course more than anybody else.. but I am not the only one

Fuel Rats.. here is what you truly deserve:

As Deluvian has said - you are an equally important part of this rescue mission. Without you we can't do it. Without Falcon, you couldn't do it. We're all relying on each other - as it should be for a rescue operation of this magnitude. Can't wait to see you at the refuelling RV point Cmdr. You've got this!
