Notable Stellar Phenomena?

According to EDDiscovery, I've now jumped into 3,481 systems -- and counting -- since notable stellar phenomena were added to the game (Anomalies, Lagrange Clouds, etc.) These systems have been of virtually every star class and almost all have been undiscovered, but I haven't encountered a single one of these phenomena. I'm certain I haven't missed them on the FSS either...I've kept my eyes unusually peeled.
Am I doing something wrong? What's the best way to find one of these? I know that most Lagrange Clouds are found near/inside nebula (which I admittedly haven't visited), but anomalies and Proto-Lagrange Clouds, to my knowledge, aren't necessarily tied to nebula. So where are they?!

I literally just ran into my first on the way out to Beagle Point. I've done a few hundred jumps on the way and this is the first. Found lots of unexplored systems, but first stellar phenomena.

I think they are quite scarce. Ran into two of those spiky thingies in the same system a few days ago (not even far away from the Bubble, it was somewhere on the way to the Guardian region around HD 63154 et al.

Haven't see a single one on my last longer trip into the Black though.

Have found two systems - in maybe 500 i guess which had some spiked things in a gas giant ring.

Now interesting thing - both were orbiting gas giants with either water or ammonia based life and both also had an ammonia world on the system.

Normally it least 3 main starts

There is a thread somewhere on the conditions you potentially need to find some of these things.

will see if I can find it!

Found 2 more yesterday

Lagrange clouds rather than in rings

well actually it was 3 - one had two different types of spikes thing

the other had a type of spike thing that was in the other one and some carbon sphere things

Finding them yourself in-game is somewhat down to chance but if you want to visit one you can always pick a reported one from the codex, or you could use the list from this thread ..

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/467253-Notable-Phenomena-Repository-Please-add-yours!

.. or you could search for phenomena near you with EDSM, e.g. lattice spheres near Mammon ..

https://www.edsm.net/en/search/syst...nlyPopulated/0/radius/950/sortBy/distanceCMDR

That's how I got to see this ..

What regions are you traveling through? I've found probably 6+ systems with PLCs, as undiscovered systems. However, all of them have been in the Inner Orion Spur, despite travelling well outside that region since the update. Two of them were even in (nearly) adjacent systems between Rohini and the Conflux abandoned settlements.

My suspicion (though I don't have data to back this up) is that they're a lot more rare in other regions, and only mildly rare in the Inner Orion Spur.

I'm in the same boat as OP, just over 3 000 systems for me and no dice. I've been wondering if it's just because I'm out on the rim circumnavigating the galaxy. I'll definitely check in on a discovered one sooner or later (have found so far anyway that out on the rim these anomalies seem to have been placed as 'out of the way' as possible ((so far anyway)). Really hope to find my own though, as the excitement level in doing so is what real exploration is all about.

Yup I also am in inner orion spur and I play for maybe 2 hours each night and for the past 3 nights I have been finding these - and yes often in adjacent systems

Last night I found one which had a lagrange cloud in the middle of nowhere and also some spikes things in a gas giants rings.

Always seems to be a water or ammonia life gas giant nearby ....

I'm finding them in every 5th system or thereabouts in the sector i am in (drymans). They all seem to be the commen type though.
Hm, that's a first I've heard. Like the others mentioned, they appear to be rare in the IOS, and practically non-existent in other sectors. Personally, I visited 3,000 systems before I wrapped up what I wanted to explore, found two in the IOS (even though I've spent at best a hundred jumps there) and none outside.
However, now that I look at the Notable Phenomena Repository again, even with the small data set, Dryman's Point does seem to have a more than the average amount. Interesting.

Maybe Frontier's planning on opening up the Dryman permit region first?

I've found a grand total of two spiky crystal areas so far, absolutely nothing on my current trip out towards the rim (currently in the Formidine Rift). As far as I know there's no way to plan on how to look for these things beyond the fact that they may be common in or near nebulae - beyond that it's either blind luck or they're not there at all. I think it's rather pointless and very disappointing really.

I found most on the border, as I didnt travel through the middle of the sector. THe most I found were on the bottom border area, cannot remeber which sector border that is exactly.

Not familiar with that sector - but is there perhaps a clustering of certain star types that is generating a higher density of suitable locations for these types of phenomena?

I'm currently on the way to see if i can find some stellar phenomena that occur in only Y-type star systems - I have found a clustered group of Y-type stars so it's likely that I may find one or more of he phenomena within the cluster - i imagine.

I believe it's highly possible that it's down to the region(s) that one visits.
Personally, I've visited Vulcan Gate, Perseus Arm, Achilles Altar, Hawking's Gap, Outer and Inner Orion Spur.
Fewer than 100 of my jumps have been in the Inner Orion Spur, so I'm not surprised I haven't found anything there. However, most of the other sectors where I've spent hundreds of jumps (save for the Perseus Arm) don't have any Notable Stellar Phenomena in the codex, so I suspect that they might just be incredibly rare there.

Thanks for everyone's replies as well, they've been helpful :)

By sectors, you mean regions, right? In any case, it's pretty evident by now that different regions can have different finds turned off - no bark mounds, for instance - and it looks highly probable that in the spawns where chance does appear to have a role, there are different chances per region as well. But it's difficult to tell whether it's chance or something we forgot to account for.

Yesterday I finally found my first notable stellar phenomena. It was 2 months to the day since setting out around the rim, roughly 5500 jumps since the update, and 300 thousand light years travelled.

I visited an already known site in Acheron. I'd had my eye on it for a while because I had a sneaking suspicion there was more to be found in that area and it payed off.

I've now found 10 new systems in the area with 20 NSP sites, and have added 7 discoveries to the codex.

Was loosing my mind thinking it just wasn't going to happen, and am so relieved. Also glad it worked out this way as the elation after so long spent was the best moment I've had so far in this game, period.

So best of luck to anybody still searching, they are there to be found!
