Aquatics in 1.7 / 1.8 ?

well, JWE is a great game, but i think we should have some aquatics, even if that means more work to do
i'm just curious, as always.

If the people in charge repeatedly stating "we keep non-dinosaur animals in mind, but it isn't happening anytime soon" is anything to go by... then the answer is no...

I don't see how aquatics could ever work unless they're stationary idle animation tanks or something. How do they escape, how do they interact with literally any other animal.

How would aquatic animals not work? They've done it games like Zoo Tycoon 2...

As for escaping, well... why does everything need to be able to escape? Is there something wrong with them adding animals that can't go on a rampage?

I just cannot figure how could work the gameplay for animals that should be under the water for the 90% of the time and for the and for the remnant 10% only visible with 10-15% of their bodies.
It sounds very unpratical and boring...

It's why you build viewing areas and rides... so you can see them better...

Because everything else escapes. They escape in the movies. What's the point if it's a boring AI walking around with no purpose other than eating, or maybe it'd just be an even worse little stationary thing with an idle animation that replays every so often.

Because isn't that the whole point of animals in the typical zoo game? Make them comfortable and happy and then... that's it? You just let the NPCs in the game do all the work for you while you sit back and watch it all...

Hi there,

We don't have any plans for aquatic creatures in Jurassic World Evolution currently. Our focus with regards to creatures is very much land dinosaurs which keep in line with the JW lore.

And in Doom you can shoot demons. That has as much relevance as your statement. This isn't Zoo Tycoon 2, or any other game.

Unfortunately I have to disagree, Doom has no relevance to JWE, however, Zoo Tycoon 2 shares many similarities to JWE, it's not much of a fair comparison.

I agree, comparing this game to Zoo Tycoon (any Zoo Tycoon*) is not fair. They are completely different games and game engines. Similar genre =|= same game. It's one thing for someone to wish game A has something game B had, but quite unreasonable to believe that BECAUSE game B had it game A MUST have it.
Speaking of Zoo Tycoon series (sans the one Frontier was involved with, since it isn't really part of that series), even they were very different from each other. Each one contained things the other did not gameplay-wise. ZT2 was sort of 2 steps forward, one back compared to ZT1.

(The Doom reference was an intentionally ridiculous one to hammer home my point. I could just as easily used Roller Coaster Tycoon or Majesty or 1602 AD.)

* The Zoo Tycoon that Frontier ACTUALLY was involved in (the really bad one for Xbox) is closer to this game...a bit closer anyway. Still, different game so apples and oranges and all that.

Ah okay. It's still not fair to keep asking Frontier for aquatic and flying reptiles. Obviously, they know about it and are more focused on improving the base game first. (second statement more directed at OP)
