Buff the Cobra Mk III.

Keep the Mk III's flight model, and give it the same optional internals as the Cobra Mk IV.

While you're at it, unlock those two topside utilities.

See? Everyone gets their precious mining ship, and no breach of contract is made as the Mk IV is still exclusive.

That contract does nothing to stop you buffing the Mk III. ;)

There would still be a ship that some (lots of?) players cannot get... so it does not matter if Mk3 is on pair or even better, or we add a Mk5 that is on pair or better, as the underlying issue is still there, that you would still not be able to get the Mk4, and even if they just copy paste the Mk4 to Mk5, you can be assured that people will testify that the Mk4 is the better option.

My solution was to just purchase an AspX for mining. Very simple work around and it does not involve a new ship design or coding issues. The Cobra MkIV was a promise that needs to be kept even though I'd love to have one but can't.

Rep for perseverance on those two utilities![up]

There's no saving some people.

At least my proposal offers that sweet sweet small ship cargo capacity.

buff the cobra MK III?
You're joking right?

If anything the Cobra MK IV needs a buff not the Cobra III

The Cobra MK IV is terribad being a full 100m/s slower than the cobra III for only one extra hardpoint and class 4 slot, its also a full 200-250m/s slower than the cobra III with engineering. depending on wether you chose clean or dirty for both of them.

Also the cobra is not a mining ship, its a multipurpose ship, and if anything its better as a heavy armor silent running fighter than a mining vessel.
Even an exploration build would be more suitable to it than making it a mining build.

The Cobra MK IV is terribad as a ship

It already is capable of carrying up to 60T max
and 32T with a generic build

Just bring the Mk.IV out in another colour. The Horizons one is still exclusive (no one can get it any more) and the new shiny blue-white one will please the crowd :D

As a Cobra Exclusive owner. I would say that if the Mark III gets a buff; then I demand that the IV gets one as well. It's only fair.

Honestly, don't get it, The MkIV was a reward for loyal customers, Why should anyone who joins after get one?
It offers no game advantage, it's not a super weapon, and it's not that good, It was a token gesture by Fdev to issue a nice warm fuzzy feeling.

If I join a new company the week before the company bonus is issued, I would not expect to receive the same bonus as someone who has invested
in the company and been there years.

The only solution I can think of is re-issue the lifetime pass for purchase, and reward customers with the MkIV
That gives you what you want, and Gives Fdev secure income.

It was a reward for pre-order of Horizons iirc, not the LEP.

And others seemingly want that warm fuzzy feeling too. And give FD money for it. Even if it's plain blue-white instead of exclusive red :D

I got mine for buying the LEP; before Horizons admittedly, but for the investment I made in the game.

To me, one of the funny things was, when they sold it to us. I think that many thought, oh good another Cobra and it would be better than the current one. It is going to be a fantastic ship and being a Cobra, it would be fast. Of course we forgot: This is F.D. and they are just a bunch of sadists.

exactly.

The cobra MKIV is a terrible ship that almost no one wants to use.

The cobra III doesnt need a buff, its already better than the cobra IV

It is not a terrible ship. I have two: One for passenger missions; which paid for and fitted my FDL. The other I use for pirate assassination missions. It has a 70dps and over 1,000HP hull. Both work well without any engineer improvements.
