[DW2] How many have dropped off?

Just remember, you have to finish before the deadline date in the expedition. If you pass the deadline date, nothing will be updated and you'd be showing as incomplete.
Can you link this please(can't find it) , because as far as I know finishing is whenever you get there(within reason). Ty :)

That's what happened at the end of DECE. Some guys took a little longer to arrive at end station, and EDSM didn't flag them as finished, but those who arranged the expedition managed to open and change the deadline and extended it a bit, and then they could finish up. Perhaps it has changed since then.

Interesting. So if I didnt join until WP3, will I also be incomplete to EDSM?

No. I don't think so. What waypoints you visit and whatever you skip doesn't affect it. Completion seems to be only based on that you visited the end point before or on end date. At least that's the impression I got from previous expedition. Also, if you do go to the end point, and then go to any other waypoint from earlier before the end date, it seems to reset your progress to that waypoint, which is weird. It might have changed since then, so nothing I say is for certain. It's just the experience from before.

Ah ok, I wasn't talking EDSM as many don't care for it(which is a shame as it is our game's best tool !!! )
I meant just having been there and done DW2 :)

Ah. Yeah, I'm not sure how they'll keep track on who finished or not outside of EDSM. Probably honor system. If you say you did, then you did.

It's practically impossible to know the exact figures, theres over 13k cmdrs involved..

.. but if i'd have to guess, i would say:

- 25% didnt even start the journey for a reason or another. (that happens, people love to register to stuff without even real intention of actually participating, other reasons being real life stuff, forgetting that you registered to some expedition over a year ago, etc etc.)
- 10% who actually started dropped out soon after the start because they got ganked and they didnt join PG for a reason or another (over 1000 cmdrs got killed at Pallaeni already, according to certain individuals)
- 10% dropped after the first CG

But, because for example console players EDSM inputs is a bit more difficult, i say theres approx 20-30% of cmdrs who are active but doesnt show up in there.

So, my estimate is that there's approx 65-75% of the initial roster left and EDSM backs up my estimates.
EDSM roster involves approx 50% of the whole roster and not more than 31% (plus those 10-15%who cant update their progress) has reached WP4.

Rough estimates but i dont think the real figures are that far off..

I friended a ton of people at the first two waypoints, and a few since then. Probably about 100-200 people. Out of those, I've only noticed one that appears to be completely back in the bubble, but it's also possible that others just simply aren't playing, or have silently unfriended me. So take it with a grain of salt. ;)

They better do it now because WP5 is the closest the fleet will get to Colonia.

It's pretty damn close, too.
I just swung out to Colonia from WP5 today, to do some engineer unlocking and start shipping some of my collection out here for later use when I head here on the way back from DW2.

Welp, I just made it to WP5 this morning and was immediately interdicted and ganked. I've been playing in open with the fool idea that I might see some other folks on the trip, but the first human I have met since WP1 turned out to be a bored PvPer whose combat skills limit them to attacking dedicated exploration rigs with no weapons.

So, I'm now about 10kly back on the trip and have lost all of my exploration data. I need to spend some time thinking, and then either catch up and play entirely in solo from here on out, or head back to the bubble and go back to the mining and pve bounty hunting I had been doing before. We'll see I guess.

The current Waypoints are all camped in Open. There are better ports not too far from WP5. Segmenting your runs and saving your exploration data periodically is also a good idea.

If this saves just one Cmdr then it was worth it:
Don't travel in open during DW2! The gankers are not doing anything wrong and are playing the game within the rules.

See, there's your first mistake, all the people you might see are playing in PGs.

I haven't dropped off yet but Ive thought about it.
Don't get me wrong- Im having a lot of fun in this expedition but IRL I Must travel a lot for work, sometimes a couple of weeks at a time.
I don't relish the idea of playing catch up when I return- all those light years to recover. It can take its toll. The long winter and 'imposed hibernation' helps, for sure.
In the meantime its GREAT connecting with all of you commanders via Fleetcomm, exchanging stories and tales.
Great fun seeing all the gleaming hulls of colossal vessels at the waypoints and the bustle of activity. (Its not unlike the bus rallys Ive been to IRL). Even winging up for exploration is fun. It has inspired me to write more fan fiction just for fun!

Lets see how long I can hold out. Its not practical travelling with my desk top and Occulus.

Fly safe commanders, see you in the black and look me up:
