Have to travel 5kly away to unlock PPalin, anywhere nice I should go?

Totally forgot I had rerolled my Main. I had even been to Sag A* in his previous life!

So I need to get my rear-end 5KLY away from Asselus Primus to unlock the good Professor. May as well make the most of it!

Anyone know of an interesting routes with nice planets or sights I could discover?

Thanks!

Hmmm. I hear the Sacajawea Nebula is nice this time of year. But if I remember correctly that’s gonna be quite a bit beyond the 5K you’re looking for. At the moment I can’t think of anything specifically in that range I could recommend, generally I just scan the galmap and look for stuff that might be interesting looking and keep an eye out along the way there.

When I did the 5k Ly challenge I went to the Trifid Nebula which is beyond the Lagoon Nebula if you go toward the center of the galaxy. That's the furthest I've been so far. When I went there I found no outposts or stations to take a rest stop. Maybe there is now.

Head towards Maia and keep going, after all you're going to Palins base so you might as well be in the same general area also the probe fragments are around there too, I used this approach ion my second account to unlock Palin and ended up with first discoveries as well :)

Triffid nebula has Observation Post Epsilon in it now, so it makes for a nice destination. Also consider the Jellyfish nebula, which has Beta site.

Both offer great views, there are things to see on the way, and the asteroid base at the end of the journey is a welcome sight after a first trip out into the deep :)

Jellyfish Nebula is nice.[up]

Yep, Barnard's Loop and the permit locks around there require a bit of a detour. Easy to avoid, though - also gives an excuse to route via Marta's Pulsars :)

Jellyfish is a very pretty nebula to visit. There are some nice clusters in the general vicinity as well, and a route back can take in Seagull nebula and Thor's Helmet nebula as well.

Of course, if the mood takes ypu, then onward and outward lie the Rosette Nebula, Monkey Head, and the Crab, and then the edges of the very galaxy...

Yes. I remember taking the Tijuana Taxi out for a short test flight...Anyway, a week later...:D

lol, I will let someone send me a postcard with a pic of the free Anaconda on it instead. I wil enjoy looking at it while drinking from my Hutton mug. ;)

Yep 5K for Palin was the farthest I had even been too until DW2. Shattered that distance few weeks back. Flew 4 times that distance last week alone taking the scenic route and then a trip to Colonia and back. First trip there of course.

The Crescent Nebula is 5k out and very pretty - also has an asteroid station there too, though it is 5k on the head (I think I dropped in, from Shinrarta, at 5,027LY or thereabouts!).

That's where I went too. Then I beelined for Palin on the way back.

The Cat's Paw Nebula is just about 5000ly away, and every star on the way is scoopable (at least it was for me) so you don't have to keep faffing with the map en route. Easy trip!
