Thanks for that! What's the space for spectacles in the face mask like?
Brainwarp (Pimax's reprojection) is available in the beta version of Pitool, now.
5K PLUS: 90/72/64HZ. 8K: 80/72/64HZ

It works quite well in Elite. It jitters a bit here and there but for me it's stable enough to use. At 45/90fps it's smooth for me, somewhere between Vive and Oculus, but more towards Oculus as a scale how well it works. It's a beta, without a doubt, but it works better than expected and well enough to use from now until the next version of the Pitool comes out with an updated version of Brainwarp included.
Foveated rendering apparently works for RTX cards, with people reporting back, but I haven't tried it yet and anyone who has spoken about it wasn;t playing Elite. Interesting, considering the Pimax eye tracking module that the backers get free, is not far off

Been using the Pimax 5k+ for a few days now. I have no idea why people call the colours washed out. They seem perfectly fine to me. As to the blacks, well to me they are fine. Easily good enough. Space looks like space to me.
It tracks perfectly.fine with one base station I bought off eBay, but I am not doing any roomscale stuff currently.
The headphone jack works, but the sound is a little weak sounding, it's like it's missing bass.
Screen door effect is very small and after a bit of playing I just didn't notice it.
Using my glasses was impossible with the pad on the unit, but I had already bought a thicker vive one as I anticipated the issue. With that on I could use my glasses. If you are only slightly short sighted, you may be able to get away without needing to wear them.
Distortion. There is some, but it is very small on top and bottom and more noticeable on the far edges. But you stop noticing them after a while when playing.
Getting the correct IPD is challenging and still not sure I have it correct..Hopefully Pimax will include something like the rift. It would help.
Conclusion. It's the best VR experience I have had. Having the peripheral vision really helps with the feeling of speed and size. I can't see myself ever using my rift again if I could.
I had to upgrade my GPU though to get it working. My AMD Fury just couldn't do it. So I now have a RTX 2070 which seems to do the trick just fine and will be even better when the next pi-tools gets released with the fixed foveated rendering.
What pad are you using?
I bought a pack that had an 18mm pad and a 6mm pad.
This is what I got:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XTBZBFN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It doesn't fit perfectly, but fits enough to get the job done. Saying that I may try the thinner pad without my glasses as I will be closer and may see better. I will experiment.
It’s sending my cross eyed after only a few minutes playing with glasses on! The lenses need to be slightly further away to make it clear for me.

Ummm... I really don't believe it does as much as it costs. It kinda smells of "audiovoodoo" equipment.
Do an A/B test with a rift - fire up elite, play a while (perhaps play through docking/travel training where you undock and hyperjump). Close the game, connect the other hmd, play the same scenario again. Do it first in pimax, then in the rift. First - you will appreciate FOV more, lack of god rays, low SDE, bigger sweetspot. And you will notice why people are saying that colours are washed out. Especially with the sidewinder cockpit which is mostly dark.
As for base station, the consensus is to set it to channel b (using the button on the back) and leave it at that. With Vive, station b wakes up with power and doesn't wait to synchronise with "slave" station (channel c). It should work as long it isn't too close as Mr Teatime found. Remember to enable lighthouse tracking in pitool.
lol, 'bionic display' (whatever that means) measuring pixels by degrees magic resulting from "combining 1920x1080 low persistence micro-OLED and 1440x1600 low persistence AMOLED" ... yeah, that's some voodoo right there [haha]
anyway, anybody has $7,000 spare to find out?
ah yes I remember the days of vinyl and gotta have gold plated connectors along with the special multi braided pure silver wires, threw that "T" shirt away a long time away.Ummm... I really don't believe it does as much as it costs. It kinda smells of "audiovoodoo" equipment.
