About walking around the ship

Where is this going to be possible?. I know this is way into the future but so far the only places that I imagine walking arond the ship is on station. SC is to fast for you to look at anything on the back of your ship before you get to your destination (unless they have more systems like cm draco) and so is HJ.

nobody knows exactly when, when FD will be satisfied with the end result, probably a year/two after initial release, so expect it somewhere 2016 ;)

Additionally there is no artificial gravity, and the ships are quite agile and accelerate like crazy. I suspect we'll be belted down in seats during flight almost all the time, and walking around will be more when docked, or when scrambling to do emergency repair or for EVA.

What will happen when 'walking' is implemented in our space ships.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Consider the possibilities of 'walking' when coupled with the planetary landings add-on that will be coming as well. So you'll be able to get out of your ship on a planet and walk around, possibly doing cool stuff like 'big game hunting' (David's words), exploration, etc.

Also possible would be doing EVAs, ship repairs, etc. It really just depends on what FD decides to do with it. I think there are tons of interesting possibilities even if it were just limited to stations and planetary surfaces.

Edit: Lol, Witzo.... Don't let Davevti see that. ;)

Pardon my ignorance. What are EVA?

I like to think I spotted someone who accidentally gave away that he can tell us exactly what it should look like:

It's also been mentioned that there's the possibility of docking with other ships and walking (floating) around either vessel.

That holds the possibility for authorities to board you and scan your cargo physically, which really improves the whole smuggling side of things, as well as the potential for pirates and military forces to attempt to board and capture your vessel (or you to them).

So it's not just about taking a stroll when your ship is docked/landed, it also adds a whole extra dynamic as well as improving existing game play like smuggling ala Firefly and Star Wars with smuggling holes.

That will be no necessary, since E|D vessels travels doing micro-teleportation jumps in high speed sequence to allow ship and it's occupants to travel far the speed of light.

In more simple words (objects do not move at all), they teleports in a whole piece.:)

Lol. I asked where not when :p

sorry for that ;)
but the idea is to walk in pretty much everything (ships, stations, planet surfaces), that's why there will be expansion, they need to create many assets and to make it all look and feel right...

David Braben: I think the most controversial is not to include landing on planetary surfaces in the first release. This is because as a player you expect there to be so much there; bustling cities, rich vistas, verdant forests full of exotic creatures, and so on. You expect to be able to get out and walk around. All of those things we want to, and plan to do with time. But not at first release.
