Just got my first Cyclops kill. Aaaaaaaaannnndd.....

You should have went into silent running and then fired weapons to get the heat over 160%. Reboot / repair does nothing for casuistic damage.
A. If I did that then I would have cooked my ship to litteral death because the hull % was so low and...

B. My decon limpet controler was busted, which forced me to reboot to repair it.

That's why i pack heatsinks.

Silent running +spooling fsd + weapons derping will heat you quick enough to clear caustic before the first damage tick , and a heatsink will get you below 150% just as quick.

If you could do it once, you can do it again :D Gratz

+1 on the congratulations, the first one is always the hardest. I lost my conda to caustic after my first kill, now I kill cyclops with a gunship and bigger prey with the conda.

Is defintely worthwhile remembering about cooking your ship to remove caustic, plus if you replace the decon controller and cargo bay with an hrp and an mrp then you have better hull survivability as well.

Don't let one rebuy put you off, you know you can do it now!

Agree, I took down a few Cyclopses casually these days when combatting in a AX conflict zone.
I mean, I didn´t kill them god mode/accidentally, but sometimes it works quite well. With a well equipped and engineered Krait2 you can apply a tactic like this:
Approach Cyclops (from behind or side), expose a heart with two or three fat salves from Guardian Plasma loaders, boost past the Cyclops. Turn around and dart the heart down with 2B Guardian Gauss. Boost boost, boost, stay in motion and stay away from the swarm. Dont boost too far away, but far away enough for them losing interest in you. (in AX combat zones there are also other targets for them) Btw. repair and decontamination limpets are your friends out there.
I´ve stopped the overheat decontamination tactic because I got annoyed losing my limpets all the time..

Thanks for the uplift guys, I needed it.

And no, I couldn't pack any heatsinks because I had to make room for the shield boosters and xeno-stuff. I could've traded the scanner but I wanted to be able to Identify the scouts beforehand.

Well done cmdr. I did the same thing with my vette. Bagged my first cyclops then died on route to the station, this was before decon limpits and we didn't know about the heat thing then. Keep at it, i just killed 2 cyclops one after the other in an AXCZ tonight.

If you have a spare hard point you could try a beam with thermal vent. I use this on my vette with 2 7a SCB and no heatsinks.

Or you can join the AXI Discord to find everything related to Thagoid hunt. I grew up from your position, OP, to soloing the Hydra in less than 2 months by only reading shared information there.

The Cyclops gets easier every time you fight it. I can solo the things without losing 10% hull now.

Still can't kill a basilisk.

I like figting them close to the planet surface because they don't deploy the thargon swarms when close to the surface. So I literally bring my ship to a complete hault, face the thargoid and fire the gauss cannons.
