Elite Original Release 30th Anniversary!

I am wondering and hoping that something cool will happen on the 30th Birthday of the release of the Original 8 bit Elite.
I read somewhere that it is this September sometime.
Does anyone know when it actually is and have any good ideas for what we or Frontier could do to celebrate?

Beta 2 maybe...hopefully we'll have that before that date though so maybe a huge test of the injected events system . The could sprinkle the systems full of small Easter eggs!

Now Im not sure where I heard it... but they were talking Q4 for Gamma in some of the gamescon E3 footage where they not?

So that kind of puts September as unlikely...

I would expect it to go to early December before that gamma appears, but it all hinges on how Beta goes... and what features we break/ bugs we find.

Considering no news of new Beta I'd probably put Beta 2 happening then with some goodies for logging in that day and Gamma/Release whatever around the holiday season.

so with the 30th Anniversary coming up, do you think that Frontier will surprise us with the release of the public gamma in the next few weeks.
Beta has on the whole been stable with pretty much the core mechanics all in place. I ask this again as the last time I mentioned the Elite release date I got shot down by almost everyone when I said that Elite would very likely slip its original release date of march 2014. as shown in this thread here.

Beta 2 will come before Gamma. FDEV have said it many many times.
