Just another announcement of another coming announcement. This one in 18 months. You have really outdone yourselves this time.
As for you LEP's Frontier just told you to go yourselves again.

I think you missed the part where he said that LEP owners get the whole new content for free...

Also I got news for you: Making content, especially as big as advertised, takes time.

And it's not like they stop making any updates until 2020.

For the next chapter anyway. They did mention a rework of CG’s and more player interaction in game events and happenings in the interim. Which, honestly, is the thing I think the game needs most anywho.

The white knights are going bananas trying to explain away this. 5 years between horizons and whatever the next dlc is. There's slow...then there's FDev development slow.

Aye but the question remains: are these updates in the run up to 2020 paid or not?
My guess is they'll be paid for, low cost small drops. I don't see how all the LEPers can be kept happy otherwise.

But to be serious: what would they put in small paid drops?

I read the announcement, it said wait another year for the next expansion, which was supposed to be a yearly thing.

We were told with Beyond that they were delaying the next season but we'd see great new things after that, and now a year later we're hearing exactly the same thing. That will make four years with one new real season added.

I feel like I've been played for a fool, Lucy just keeps taking the football away at the last second. I have completely lost faith in Coming Soon.

Not sure about the white knights...but there's quite a few PVP players that are quite salty these days!

I have to say that "...in order to realise the ambition for this update, and the size and scope of the content we wish to bring to the Elite Dangerous galaxy, we estimate this major milestone will be ready by the latter half of 2020..." rather suggests that something very bugged big is coming. Of course I'd love this delivered tomorrow, but then, actually I'm booked for lunch, so Sunday would be better.

Whilst I'm sure late-2020 will disappoint many, I'm actually very pleased that FDev have learned from the LEP-fiasco of 2018 and are being up-front with us. We may not like the news, but at least we know.

For those wondering - THIS ANNOUNCEMENT

e. I wonder if what's coming plays in to Frontier taking out a trademark on Elite: Deadly a while back. A relaunch with a new name makes some sense if the changes are as significant as alluded to.

ie 18 months of piddly stuff. And even then the "latter half 2020" is only an estimate, which they'll miss. They best hope no-one releases a good space game in the next couple of years.

Yeah, wasn't that due for release in 2015? Sure I am salty about a 16-18 month wait for the next paid update, but at least I have a full-fledged game that I can play in the interim, rather than some flashy tech demo ;).

That said, I do hope they take the time to flesh out Powerplay & Missions, & give squadrons their carrier ships.
