Do HGE even exist at the moment?

I've been to seven WAR state systems tonight vainly looking for HGE that might contain Military Supercapictors.

Not a single HGE. All the others mind you

Do these exist anymore, this is the first time I've done this since the update. :S

They exist for 2.8 seconds, in only one system in the galaxy....

IMHO :

- keep away from busy or high/huge Pop Systems (the old method to optimize HGE success)
- don't focus on the Controlling Faction, any tiny Faction(s) at War will do

I've stayed off the beaten tracks and found more HGEs than I could scoop in "flyover" Systems. Upto 3 per System.

Didn't have to seek specific types lately, so I simply plotted a course through random inhabited Systems via Galaxy Map filter.
Result : I ran out of Material Storage more than once :)

Lemme guess, Alpha Centuri - out near Hutton?

It's a bit like Hutton. Except that to find Hutton, you have to play a 2D minigame in several systems first, and then when you find it and you're halfway there, Hutton vanishes because it has a timer that you never had any hope of beating in the first place.

Fortunately my travels covered a wide variety of system pop <100k to ~100 million across all the powers. Maybe I was just unlucky, will try again later :(

I presume you know to scan the nav beacon (or use the FSS if you enjoy the pain) to reveal all the USS? Otherwise you only see the close-by ones, and HGE tend to be far away....

I've seen loads. Some which expire when I get to 0.1ls. Some which contain proto-light alloys with 1 proto radiolic (which I don't need either of) and the very rare unicorn full of imperial shielding.

Elite assassination missions have given me the most joy with g5 mats. Either that or 2 million credit reward missions and taking the materials reward. Anything in an HGE is just a bonus to me now, which must be maddening for some buying a new ship right now.

They exist. Usually not more than one or two in any system and I have sometimes scanned a couple dozen systems without finding any but, they do exist and eventually you will run across one . . . or two. o7

They're there, but in small numbers and not dropping anything of value (to me, at any rate). I need pharmaceutical isolators or G4 mats that I can trade for pi's; I'm getting low value mats instead, at a terrific distance from the nav beacon, on the rare occasion that RNGesus smiles. The whole system is beyond frustrating.

Well I must be under a curse then as last night in one system there were five HGEs all with plenty of time on the clock.

Unfortunately they were all Core Dynamics and Proprietary Composites.

Best before that was 3 but one ran out as I got there - still got two with mil grade alloys though.

It is very hit-and-miss though, easy to go through several systems without a single HGE.

They want us to take it slow from now on. This is FD's subtext I gathered from playing the game and reading about other people's experiences. Similar subtext reflects from other areas of the game, where slow road to achievement is supposed to create artificial pressure for player to overcome and feel relieved and accomplished (or burned out, heh). Not mindlessly perform A-B-C-D drive by's to get 3 modified embedded firmwarez per run, metaphorically speaking, but to be creative and alert to immediately seize the opportunity when it condescends on you, avoiding the "loop design". Which brings us, inevitably, to "random design". I also feel that current situation is extremely, Extremely unfair to new players, who have 0 chance to succeed in PvP if they have tiny flaws in their builds. They'll get there, eventually. But weeks/months longer than We did. PvP is small subset of course, but very important.

Ok, thanks for reading, my whiteknighting is over. )
