HTC Vive Question

I am considering upgrading from a Rift to a Vive pro in the coming weeks.

Currently i use the rift to use my 3 ED accounts by opening direct from the desktop and not through oculus home.

Do the Vive and Vive pro user know if i can do this using the Vive? or do i have to use Steam VR to open and play ED?

If i am forced to use SteamVR to play ED, how do i go about having 3 separate cmdr accounts?

Thank you in anticipation of your learned answers.

You can simply launch SteamVR independently of Steam enabling you to launch ED from the desktop.

Initial Setup :

1) Run Steam
2) Run SteamVR
3) Add SteamVR to taskbar (for future use)
4) Close Steam
5) Fire up ED launcher
6) Log into relevant account
7) Launch Elite

Once you have it setup as a shortcut on the taskbar you can simply do :

1) Launch SteamVR from taskbar
2) Fire up ED launcher
3) Log into relevant account
4) Launch Elite

Do i really need the newer 2.0 base stations for ED or will the older version do ? What is the advantages of having the newer 2.0?

Thanks again

Tracking volume. The v2.0 base stations will track larger areas so picking up the Pro / 1.0 base station package would be perfectly fine and is cheaper. If you buy a Vive Pro don't forget to pickup some GearVR lenses + fitting kit, imho it is an absolute must as the Vive / Vive Pro lenses are pure biowaste and will lead to much disapointment coming from a Rift (low sweet spot, blurry edges, look smudged when clean, god rings). I honestly cannot stress how bad they are, I almost returned the device after first putting it on. After the GearVR lens mod the device looks awesome!
