How does the Lore Explain This?

NOTE: a lot - if not all of you will consider this a TROLL and maybe it is. But - instead of responding as would be normal to any almost blatant troll use your imaginations, have fun with it. Make us laugh or cry. Y'all can do it. This community is full of intelligent, clever and imaginative players. Give it a shot.

So - here's the situation:

You're an explorer.

You've made a long lonely trip to the rim of the galaxy. No, not the close rim the rim all the way on the other side.

Jump into a system with a Sirius size star with a high velocity ring system very close by. So close your ship does an emergency drop and within seconds - BAM!

Your ship is now one with the universe and you are floating in the black vacuum of space surrounded by spinning, high velocity asteroids and then...

You wake up on the last station you embarked from on your long journey.

One wonders - just how did your capsule travel the 100,000 light years back to that station. Teleport? Nah. Some crazy fast super faster than light speed special drive that only capsules have. Magic?

Come on guys. Help me out here. How does the lore explain that?

All the same thing, and no different from how hyperspace jumps work.

If a 600 ton anaconda can jump 80ly with a few tons of fuel without damaging itself, it shouldn't be terribly hard for a single use system to send a 200kg escape capsule quite a distance.

Spoiler - you never actually left the station. It was all VR.

Exactly. All us pilots are really in the matrix. We’re not “out there”, it’s all a simulation. The Club’s plan to save humanity isn’t in the future. We’re living it already. It would also explain why all the male pilots have an obvious lack of... um... “equipment”.

In VR you can look that far down anyway. Less impressive than a ken doll.

Why does the lore need to explain it?

Explanations of fundamental aspects of a setting help flesh out that setting, making it seem less arbitrary and increasing verisimilitude.

There is a bit of handwavium in the manual about a hyperspace window sending the excape pod back to the nearest civilization, but a less obviously gamist explanation, and mechanism, would certainly have been appreciated by many.

it's a game.

We have a winner.

Seriously. If you start picking at the logic the whole thing unravels. For example, why, in 3305 where you manually flying a spaceship with a joystick, when back in the 2000s you had self driving cars?

In fact why are you in the ship at all when the ship could do a far better job on it's own, without having to carry around empty space, air, food, water and a toilet? Given you have a holo-presence system that also works over a range of at least 65,000Ly in 'real time', could you not just use that instead? It's some serious quantum entanglement but it seems to work.

Also, how does that ship power work? How can a tiny amount of hydrogen power all that stuff? Including sending a ship into hyperspace?

Why do some ships have green engine plumes? Are they dumping copper into the mix? What about the ones in pink?

I've been to many black holes and somehow bounced off them. How? I've just been to Sag A*. Why is it not 3305 where I am, but 14567 in the bubble? Why did I not pull away from the mother of all gravity wells and find the whole galaxy fully colonised?

Why do stars colour the back ground Milky-way? How does that happen? How is it putting out more light than the combined output of the rest of the galaxy? It's a crappy L class, not an Ia standard Candle Supernova.

Why can't people I work for pay me remotely? Why do I have to go and dock at their station? My RL work can pay me remotely. I don't have to drive to wherever the finance department is to get paid every month.

Why can gankers act like total jerks and someone gives them a fine, yet every day hundreds of people are killed in stations for parking offences. Why does that not bother people? Why is there not widespread protests and riots at such barbaric laws?

Why does the law hold you ship responsible? If I go speeding the wrong way down the M1 and wipe out a young family, but survive myself, I am pretty sure I won't get away with it by just getting out of the car and walking away. "I'm sorry officer. I want to hand myself in. I did this. I killed those people." "Step away from that car and move along. That car is under arrest."

Why is the galaxy full of massive star sausages that all point towards Sol? What happened to the clusters? If the religious types find out they will be all shouting about Earth being special and the centre of the universe again.

Who moved Thor's Helmet 9000Ly closer to Earth?

Why does the California Nebula look like the Orion Nebula, but rotated around a bit? Come to think of it, why are there about 1000 Orion Nebulas all at different sized and orientations?

Why does my ship stop accelerating at 2001 x C?

Why does my ship have a top speed?

What the hell is boost? Seriously what is going on there? Does the ship fire retro thrusters for the hell of it?

I could go on.

Let just go with it's a game.

Feel free to stay away from the game as long as you think it will take in order to simulate the experience of making it all the way back to human occupied space.

You forgot about toggle switches.

Why do my ship's capabilities spontaneously change despite my being thousands of lightyears from civilization?

How does flying though a neutron star cone or dropping lumps of yttrium into my hydrogen fuel make my ship jump further?

Who designed a security system you can bypass by scanning a bunch of computers one after another, but only if you do it quickly enough?

Why do random bits of junk (or Thargoids) spontaneously appear?

How does my magic weightless telescope detect biological life from 500,000 Ls away, but isn't smart enough to tell me what it is.

How can I destroy my 100t ship by crashing it into a lamppost, without even breaking the bulb?

How do stars colder than ice exist as stars and heat your ship up while emitting visible light?

It's handwavium for the sake of just being a game

The frustrating thing is, the decision is made to make some things accurate and some not and none of those decisions seem to be based around making the game interesting and fun. Instead we get the majority of gameplay either sitting at non interactive loading screens or repeating the same tasks with no lasting visible impact.

But at least the Galaxy is simulated a little more realistic than random. Would have been preferable to build realism around a game than to try and build a game around a simulator.

Pretty sure that OP is aware that we are playing a game, just read the first paragraph...

Our escape pods are equipped with some very advanced FSD tech that can jump you literally anywhere. This has been banned for commercial and private use after the passenger transport union protested against it and is only allowed to be used for emergency situations.

Via quantum-entanglement. One end of the the connection is a device embedded into the brain of the commander. The other end is at the last station docked. A new connection is established every time a station is visited.

Upon death, the commander's consciousness returns to the station-based device, which is used to create a quantum-entanglement with a new device that's subsequently inserted into a new clone body. This makes Pilot Federation members effectively immortal.

Being a fan of immersion it sometimes irks me but then I remember it's a game and handwavium is an aspect of (usually bad) sci-fi games so I deal with it. What first got me triggered before accepting the limits of ED was being able to instantly read Galnet updates when 60,000LY away from the bubble. Go figure! :D
