Burning is it? I can't see all the way over from The Abyss.

I saw Midnight Oil in what I believe was their only Scottish gig ever, 1993 at the Barrowlands. Good times. This subject is a song by Midnight Oil...
...in so many ways, and on too many subjects, this song is (still) sadly topical.
That's fair enough, I'm not overly interested in the story myself, but I'm happy the Thargoids are consistent with the Elite series. We could do with being hyperdicted in less secure systems and attacked, like in 84.I loathe anything to do with killing aliens. It's not my idea of a space game. Might as well be fighting ghosts and zombies. If the devs want to burn stations, ok. I am not against the notion that other life forms exist, but the tired narrative of aggressive weird looking space things doesn't appeal to me and I've done nothing to outfit for them or interact with them in any way outside of getting the engineer unlocks.
Lots of work has been carried out by many groups to stop the destruction of stations and to reverse that damage. Unfortunately, FDEV don't seem to be able to differentiate between the amount of players available before DW2 and who is left around right now. It's looking bad, but it's never been a lost cause.
If nobody cared, trust me - there would be lot more stations in peril.
You might say you don't care, but you care enough to comment. Odd that. But it's not new. Since we all started over a year ago, the same comments were thrown out there. But clearly, people still cared. Quite a lot actually.
The Pleiades is almost repaired. This is the area dear to the hearts of Operation Ida. We were born there and it's the most challenging considering we have to bring a lot of commodities from the bubble. We haven't ever quit, despite the odds against us. We even have to deal with deliveries going missing... yet still we plod on. Often we don't make much money. Sometimes we even lose it. But we still do the right thing. And we enjoy it.
The bubble will be next. Station repair will speed up. 1 or 2 jumps to grab commodities is a big improvement for us dedicated to the cause. We will continue to rely on our many allies to slow down the destruction. That's all we can do.
We've made a lot of friends, had a great time - and we'll continue to do what we do best. You're welcome to join us anytime.

The problem is that FDev made the thargoid incursion too aggressive - probably overcompensating for months and months of nothing happening in the thargoid story arc. People are happy to fight the good fight, but if you put out one fire and two new ones start in its place, apathy quickly sets in.
Bullet sponges, only changes between classes was shooting faster or more hearts.
Special weapons that require more grind (this was kinda dumb, unless you're heavily engineered fighting the goids isn't really possible.. so adding grind.. on grind)
Little substance with them.
This was dead on arrival.
