In practice nothing seems to have changed and I find the "suck it up or play in SOLO" response unacceptable. Why should the majority of players be scattered to isolated private groups for the benefit of a handful of anti-social griefers?
Factually incorrect.
A minority of Cmdrs play in Solo. This sub-culture includes people who want/ed a single player game and are not interested in playing with others (cooperative or otherwise), people who do not have a viable Internet connection, people who don't have a subscription (console), and of course, people put off from open by the actions of gun-totting lunatics.
A minority of Cmdrs play in PGs. This sub-culture includes people who want/ed a coop PvE game, want to play with friends, and of course, people put off from open by the actions of gun-totting lunatics.
The majority of Cmdrs play in Open. According to FDev, but you may know better.
The "git gud" response is also absurd, since no amount of skill can make a trade ship capable of surviving an highly engineered alpha-strike from one or more specialised combat ships. The idea is ridiculous. You die in seconds. You don't even have time to turn your ship, much less deploy hard-points. So that is not in any way a valid solution.
I disagree, I survive well enough in a python mashed together out of spare parts: https://s.orbis.zone/2iqa. Submit, FA-off boost & turn, boost again, hi-wake... it's not rocket science. Ok, we are flying spaceships, so it's kind of rocket science.
PS yes, the C&P needs tweaking to include more long-term conseqyences, but also needs some long-term opportunities for balance.
@OP... if you think the DG2 kill propaganda is biased, you're right, but it goes further than you realise. The senior commanders working for DG2 outright refused to include the number of DG2 ships I destroyed with my exploraminer at Omega & Sag A* in their press releases! It was in the dozens, perhaps hundreds, but nooo... that would make them look weak, so all my work went completely ignored and will no doubt be met with blanket denial.
