I Love My Callsign

I don't love my Commander name (MetaAverroes*) which was chosen in some haste with very little thought when I first installed the game on the erroneous assumption that I could easily change it later.

However, I soon realized that while I would happily have been rid of the name I was indelibly Mike Echo Tango, having been called that by every station I approached. It took me ages to come up with a better name that also started with M E T, and in fact I've never got round to putting in a ticket to ask for it to be changed.

*The first name to pop into my head was the (I thought) obscure Arabic philosopher and astronomer Averroes. Not that obscure, it turned out. So then I thought, what comes after Averroes?

Welcome to the club. On PS4, we are currently stuck with our PSN names, which for most people are silly, hence CMDR OneOldDuck. At least my 2nd PS4 account was created with ED in mind, so it sounds a bit more "human", though I had to use an _ instead of a space.

Forgive the slight off-topic question, but I take it that changing your CMDR name on PC isn't possible without special favor from FDev support?

Have some virtual hug OP for nice sounding CMDR name. Alpha-Echo-India... not bad.

I myself picked CMDR name carefully and was quite surprised when station regarded me as Sierra-Hotel-India. Pretty neat feature for personal comms. As a fun fact, "shi" in Japanese has multiple meaning, one is digit 4, other is noun "death". I wasn't aware that ED uses NATO code to address CMDRs so my callsign was unintentional. To the point that placing transport ID in conjuction with my call sign creates rather... biowaste related ID ^^

I dont mind mine:

Alpha Zulu Oscar

(Sounds well i think)

But that is a change that is not that simple for sure to implement ingame, since it affects more than just your callsign u use and what is displayed on your ships tags, it also implies changes to starmap in the case u are a explorer since all tags in your previous name have to be changed out probrably to the new one, or they stick in the old nickname wich in itself for me seens a big bummer!

Choosing the name at start of game is crucial and well thought because ur stuck with it.

Am I alone in switching over to the first three characters of my ship's name?

Nope - I'm with you there, even though I like 'Papa India Lima' as a call sign.

"Echo, Lima, Echo " is mine and i feel pretty cool when they say it....

I just hope someone has the call-sign 'Echo echo echo...' :D - indeed I will rename a ship for this amusement alone!

If nobody has done this yet ill be pretty dissapointed in humanity.
