Engineers G5 manufactured materials - whats the 3.3 meta

im trying to harvest some G5 materials which im really lacking in manufactured materials and really need to stock build, i dont mind using the material traders to cross fertalise etc.

so whats the 3.3 meta / easy route; i tried encoded emissions but this just threw up a small smattering of G3 & G4 components on 5 out of 5 attempts at flying 20kls to the signal source (they're always miles away with low timers)

what I'm currently doing is using an Orca to tickle the enemy so it spews out materials and using an army of collector limpets to vacuum the whole of space in 10 nano seconds, which seems more productive?

whats the latest get rich quick scheme or is my Orca vacuum cleaner the best, i have a shopping list longer than my arm to engineer a new ship and when i google how to find X they all have different activities requiring different ships, i just want to harvest something for a few hours and get back to what i enjoy in the game rather than spend my life outfitting and flying back to Jameson memorial every 5 minutes to gain 10 of X before moving onto material Y

any help appreciated

You need to find out High Grade Emissions
Most common are Imperial Shielding - look for those in HGE located in Imperial Systems - and Core Dynamics Composites (plus Proprietary Composites) in Federation Systems.
You can fill up on those 2 rather quickly then trade for what you need more.

Based on the State of the Faction, as listed in the upper right corner, when you select the HGE:
Boom might yield Proto Radiolic plus Proto Light Alloys or Proto Heat Radiators (I also found them in Investment/Expansion State)
War State will yield Military Super Capacitors
Outbreak - Pharmaceutical Isolators (rare, but not as bad as the next ones)
Civil Unrest - Improvised Components (very rare, kind of Unobtainium)
Civil War - Military Grade Alloys

Heh. If only it were that easy. ...and things were working as they should be. Find one of those rare "Outbreak" HGE's? Rejoice ...until you drop in and it's just CDCs and PCs, instead of the Pharma Iso's it should be (happened to me just yesterday). And either War or Civil War can produce MGAs and MSCs -- usually at a ratio of about 75% / 25%.

And, of course, in Fed systems, Investment / Expansion / Boom / Election / None can *ALL* produce CDCs, PHRs, PRA's, with the only assurance being that if you're low on some and maxed out on one, that'll be the one your HGE produces, so ANY time you're near max on a G5 mat, better get thee to a nunner-- er, materal trader -- because sure as shootin' that's what your next HGE will produce for you.

And don't even get me started on those times you fly 15k ls to an HGE ...only to have it spawn nothing but 3 G4 mats. <snarl>

Buncha dev trolls!

BTW, anybody seen a system that's produced Datamined Wake Exceptions since 3.3? Has FDev done us the miracle of creating a Galaxy completely without famine?!

You are right - sometimes you can get mixed results :)
and yes, usually i dont keep more than 70-75 in my inventory - all the surplus gets traded for Pharmaceutical Isolators or Improvised Components or Proto Radiolic Alloys

But what i posted is my general experience with the HGE

For Datamined Wake Exceptions i use a fast ship with a long range wake scanner (6-7k range will do) and camp a high traffic station or a high traffic nav beacon (lot of speeding needed if you do the nav beacon)
Still it's a pain and they seem to be rarer than i remember when i first farmed them in January

If I need G5 manufactured for trade, I tend to:
- find a system with exactly one landable body (ideally close to the primary star)
- take a bunch of surface scan missions to that system
- do all the missions with minimal flight time as all the sites are really close together
- get lots of EFCs, Biotech Conductors, MEF

And one other thing the trick to spawning hge is?

I can harvest a hge in a system go back to super cruise and sometimes find another but after 3-4 of them it’s drier than Gandhi’s flip flops, at this point it seems more fruitful to go to another system - unless I’m missing something

I think you've got a pretty good grasp of how it works.:(

Last time I was in Sol I was seeing 3 HGE at a time.

Just load up on whatever they're pedaling, visit a trader once topped off and repeat until full.

I even down-trade to fill the common ones.

Assassination missions. If you pick the right systems it's easy enough to get all 20 to the same system.Take the G5 mat rewards on the missions and scoop all the mats from the targets / NPCs sent to avenge them. Avoid Deserters, they tend to stay in their own USS, Pirate Lords are happy to jump into other people's USS, so you can complete up to 3 missions per USS. Watch out for HGE as well, when you drop into them the Pirate Lords will jump in to say hello sometimes :)

Yesterday i was about to say that this never happened to me, but last evening in some random system (i was going to bug killer anaconda, first trip there and the thargoid pop at the spot really scared the ship out of me) i got exactly that - 3 Proprietary Composites in a HGE 15kls away :)

Ya, the drop rates are really strange right now, What I have been doing is going to imperial system's in a boom state and picking up the imperial shielding (takes about 30 min) to pick up 100 of them and then trade them for the others....

My meta is giving up in frustration and play something else. My fleet is in for an overhaul with G5 lightweight life support, that's 18 ships, which is ~180 G5 rolls to max out, which is ~180 proto radiolic alloys, which is a) almost twice the max capacity and b) 1080 other G5 materials to trade. The remotely best way to do that is 216 missions that have either 5 biotech conductors of 5 exquisite focus crystals as reward. At this point in the calculations I've lost all will to even start the game.

Have you considered *not* putting maxed G5 lightweight life support on *all* your ships?

It gets you approximately 0.25 to 0.5 LY extra range on most ships, assuming you already have a maxed G5 A-rated FSD (and even less range if you don't), when compared with just going to the much cheaper max G4 lightweight.

Max, or it doesn't leave dock. I have G4 on all of them already and already did the G4 SCB upgrades too, those materials are relatively easy to get.

do you know the worst part about it....

a HGE pops up and its 15kls away and your ship wont accelerate beyond 20C despite been next to sweet nothing! 15 minutes to target... like what the hell, just bloody accelerate you stupid @{)*&%^* thing!
