Planet Casino

Even in the family-centered Disney theme resorts and cruises , there have been adults-only bars and other places. It would be cool to be able to use places such as bars and casinos to add a nightlife dimension to our parks. I got a suggestion that might work better as a standalone game, which is why I gave it that title. If it were a standalone title, I imagine a game where we could customize everything from hotel towers to the buffet theme. In Planet Coaster, I think it would be a cute way to use and create elaborate facades and allow players to attract more adults with money.

Could be interesting, even if only as a theme.... Lots of blinking lights, musical instruments, playing card and dice themed scenery, maybe some slot machines as a path extra, Elvis impersonator as a mascot/entertainer... (Perhaps this expansion comes chock full of Las Vegas themed entertainers, including Elvis impersonators, Vegas Show Girls, Painters/portrait artists, Chippendale dancers, fire eaters, a juggler on a unicycle... )

Unfortunately, while it could be a good idea, it won't be allowed as it won't be suited to the games rating, which I assume is rated for Everyone

Could be an interesting game to have as a standalone, though I'm not sure if it'd be enough or even considered since gambling is an addiction.

I think there shouldn't be a problem as long as there is no actual gambling going on?

I'm not sure how it works, but it wouldn't surprise me if it wouldn't be allowed.

Themed items like playing cards, coins, dice and a whole bunch of awesome lights would be fine, but anything that looks like gambling I would assume not.

Well can expansions be individually rated? (Looking at the ESRB's ratings guide it seems that the worst case scenario is that Planet Casino would bump the rating up to T for teen if it included/added gambling...) Assuming of course that running the casino as the manager is seen as "Simulated gambling", or if it only counts as simulated gambling if the player gets to bet virtual currency on the virtual casino games... (Basically I'm wondering if it only counts as simulated gambling if the game allows you to place bets of some sort...)

Adult themes, besides gambling, include drugs and prostitution, if we add gambling, why not the rest? What happens in Planet Casino stays in Planet Casino, right?

Because prostitution to my knowledge is a crime in most places, and pharmacies have nothing to do with entertaining people... (Of course you probably meant black market drugs, which I don't think would really add to the games fun factor anyways... This isn't cartel simulator after all.)

Anyways when it comes right down to it, the carnival midway is basically no different than a casino in terms of the business model. (The key difference being that the prizes offered by carnival games are generally things parents would trust their children with, and that don't run the risk of giving people false hope of an easy life.)

cards and dice scenery would be good but casinos and stuff like that due to the games rating i dont think this would happen and it isnt a good idea for casinos

I didn't think about rating, as it had the rating pending sticker in the Alpha (I think that is first the one I bought). Well, then I guess maybe as a standalone title if the interest is high enough. I do think there would be a market for it given the popularity of online slot games.

the raiting was only pending on alpha as it was going through the process of being rated at the time as even though when the game was alpha there will of been a copy somewhere i bet that was ready for the rating purpose but i am not sure if it would work as you would have to put at least and 18+ rating on the game here in the uk due to it being gambleing and a similar rateing with the content you are talking about

Wait seriously? Wow... Here in the US the worst having "Simulated gambling" would bump it up to is a 13 plus rating... (Which given the complexity of the game doesn't seem like it would shut out any of the customer base... (Even then I'd be inclined to wonder if the players themselves would have to be the ones placing the bets before it would be counted as such.)

People in the UK really regard something as simple as an NPC playing a slot machine to be just as adult as graphic sex and violence?

Um, gaming is an addiction. Enough said[big grin]

You mean because some people get caught in a Skinner box and waste away pursing their obsession with maybe winning something?(With that something varying depending on what variety of Skinner box they've allowed themselves to be trapped in.)

If a game like PC is released as E and then they release a DLC add-on that is rated T, the main game would still remain E

A casino game can be rated E, and are we talking about "playable casino games" or would it just be for the guests? If it was just for guests then there is no reason it would get rated anything other than an E. But it would be really cool if we could play the games in guest mode, similar to driving go karts

I've seen a lot of people request hotels, and personally I think hotels would be lame. But a Hotel Resort + Spa with a Casino, Golf Course, Stage Shows, Buffets, Valet parking, etc... now that could be interesting!

But I would much rather have a Carnival style DLC with playable minigames like skiball ring toss etc!

I don't think it is necessary for the games to be for the players. In my head I am thinking of something similar to Disney Springs.

+1 you also have the casinos building theme parks like OWA in alabama or casions adding a roller coaster and few flats like in las vegas [big grin]
