The easiest way to keep shop staff happy in Sandbox....

I want to play sandbox and not have to worry about managing the staff. I also... want my shops to stay open to where I don't have to keep finding which shops closed and then having to re-open them (etc). I really want the peeps to enjoy the park even while in Sandbox mode and be able to use all the shops if they want, but I want to remove the management aspect of the shop staff as much as possible.

If I give the shop staff an inordinate amount of money right off the bat, is that the best way not to have to deal with them? Will I still need to give them raises even if I start them off with.. say.. $1000 per month?

This would be a good thing to test. I would like to do the same thing. But I think it also has to do with them having enough work to do. I don't think even if you paid them a million dollars they would keep their job if they did not have enough customers to help keep them busy. I think the 2 go hand in hand. I would check the stats on the shop and make sure it is busy enough to keep the vendor occupied. If not, then either close it down, move it somewhere else or change what that shop sells.

That's very interesting... perhaps in theory that should essentially be correct. However, I just read the next two replies....

Yes, pay them well and they'll never complain. The simulation is that shallow.

No offense, but what else should they want?

And when I think about it... if some rich park owner wanted to pay me thousands a month to stand in a stall for no reason... I would not complain either.

a break?

if one staff memebr is paid an astronomical sum and another is paid the starting rate (forgot to set it to max) the one on the lower should get peeved.

Some kind of increase for experience/training expected (it already is, but not from what they were getting paid before, just a minimum value. (i.e after training staff expects 10% pay rise).

Staff could want to change roles, based on their skills or preference.

Staff could want to be trained and advance, they might be dissapointed to never learn and improve.

(obviously for sandbox things like this aren't wanted, but then why have staff care about wages in sandbox anyway).

My point exactly. I want to just build and be creative. I don't want to worry about Hat stall #17 closing down because the staff quit.

Well, I just had a vendor quit who I was paying a lot of money and they were fully trained so I don't know why they would quit other then they didn't have enough work to do. The shop did not do too well in sales. I also remember this discussion in the forums during beta and someone else had said it was because they were bored because they didnt have enough work.

Pay them heaps. You have unlimited money in sandbox mode. You pay them poorly, they'll deliver poorly or will be unhappy. That goes for real life too. Make sure you train your staff too.

Ugh, that is so frustrating. I know I'm trying to circumnavigate the management aspect in Sandbox, but if I wanted to manage the money and staff I would play Challenge. If I'm forced to manage staff wages and training then give me a toggle to remove "Unlimited Money" in Sandbox so I can play it like a "Challenge"!

I just feel as though we shouldn't have to manage staff or money when you are supposedly "Free to Build the Park of your Dreams". I don't know about you but checking the UI every 15 minutes to make sure your shops are open aren't part of any of my "dreams".

It's micro-managy as ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎, but once you train staff to level 2-3 they'll stay content forever. The only time you should need to train them beyond that is if you're getting complaints that the queue for the shop is full. If you over-train your staff and they don't have enough work, they'll quit. No point maxing out the training if the shop isn't busy enough to need it.

Maybe they quit because they dont have to work anymore cuz of all the money you gave them. [haha]

If the staff members got peeved because of the different rate of salary than there peers i would fire them all because its unprofessional to discuss your wages with your coworkers LOL
