The use of the .99 instead of .00 is also a physcological selling point too...


Most people look at the numbers before the . so being able to sell something at 299.99 will more likely grab most customers than 300.00

It's all about smart consumerism and learning to read between the lines.

I agree, but there've been studies for about a hundred years that have shown that the .99 trick does have a positive commercial effect. The main point of the post was not whether to use it or not, I just fruitlessly took a shot at it as I personally dislike it. The point was whether people think .95 would be better for FD than .99 (yield more sales) .

Of course I could have made the point clearer initially, but then I wouldn't have enjoyed being jumped on by the usual suspects
