General / Off-Topic Overwatch & Other FPS Games

First Person Shooters are my second favorite genre after Strategy/ Management games. I recently picked up Overwatch, kind of blindly since it was only $40, but I am really enjoying it. My only gripe is that it is a very team focused game, and since a lot of the players are new, I am losing the games most of the time. I don't have any friends on Battle.net (Blizzard's Client) since this is my first Blizzard game and I just created my account, so I am just solo queuing for now.

It would be cool to set up a Planet Coaster team and rek people [big grin]

If anybody wants to play just let me know your blizzard name and I'll add you to my friends list.

also if anybody play's Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, I am a pretty decent player there and usually play with several teams, but it would be cool to make another Planet Coaster team for that game too
[tongue]

This is pretty cool. [big grin] I actually have a pretty low opinion of most FPS games, but I played Overwatch during the open beta because all my friends were, and I actually really enjoyed it. I love the setting and the lore and have found the game fun to play despite my prejudice against FPSs.

I actually enjoy team-based strategy; I used to play a lot of League of Legends (we coaster addicts needed some way to pass the decade between RCT3 and PC [sour]) and always loved being in charge of coordination and shotcalling. Friendly word of advice: never look at what your team is doing wrong! Always ask yourself what you could've done better! It's so, so tempting to say you were placed with a crap team (usually true) but a really high-skill player could hypothetically win the game anyways. Hypothetically. It's the mindset that counts. Keep that frame of mind and you'll always keep improving--and get a lot less salty at the game. [happy] Communicate a ton. If people beg you to use pings less, then use pings more anyways. Pings, pings, wonderful pings, the more you ping, the less your team makes really stupid decisions. [tongue]

It might be cool to have a Planet Coaster Overwatch Team if there are enough people interested. I'll hold off on putting my contact information in a public place until we're sure it's gonna happen, but consider me interested! For reference, I play a lot (a lot) of Junkrat, but flex to the majority tanks or supports as needed--I'm particularly fond of Mei and D.va. I'm super uncomfortable playing most offense heroes, though. Assassin has never been my playstyle in any game, though I'm not half bad at the simple backline Soldier: 76 (granted if you can't play 76 you probably shouldn't play Overwatch, he's so mind-numbingly simplistic [tongue]).

Oh this is interesting. I haven't played it at all yet but was looking to pick it up in future. Also I have Siege but lost interest because of idiots and the bugs it had but the new patch is meant to be good so if you are up for it I will update that game and we can have a few games later on.

Might be worth making a few threads with game title and team name etc if we get enough interest so we can organise game times etc.

Regards,

Adam

I still play TF2, and it is still wonderful. [heart] I'm glad Overwatch is out though, cause maybe Valve will pick up their game and stop being lazy.

I too am starting to lose interest in Rainbow Six Siege. When it first came out people actually played it tactically but now people just roam around and its like call of duty lol
For some reason though i keep going back to it. I have like over 350 hours [woah]

Overwatch is the game that I really want to buy since a long time, but they changed the economic model on the way (the game should have been a free-to-play) and since that time, I'm still hesitate ...

Yea i understand what you mean. I prefer to pay up front and never have to pay again though. You get a lot of loot boxes really quickly (one for every level). I already got two of the legendary skins and got a bunch of in game credits. And they also said the future maps and characters would be free

I'd really recommend picking it up if it's the sort of game you're into! I wasn't going to buy it at first as I had my reservations but in the end bought the £29.99 version and I absolutely love it! I honestly think it's worth the cash as it's such a well put together game, it's an absolute blast to play with friends! [big grin]

As for the thread I'm quite into FPS games as well. Mostly playing:

Star Wars Battlefront
Battlefield 4
Overwatch
Insurgency
Half Life 2 death match (For when I host a cheeky LAN)

Have been wanting to pick Rainbow Six: Siege but cannot convince my friends to grab a copy :(

Well, I bought "Overwatch", and frankly ... This is cool ! [yesnod]

I continue to believe that they made a mistake on the economic model, and the "CashShop" to buy coffers is a shame (shame on you Blizzard !!!), but ... The game itself is really good.

The art direction is really good, the "cartoon" graphics are nice, like always with this company. The characters (and skills) are varied enough for now. The gameplay is pretty fun and fast (except to reach the fight, you have to walk, some "respawn points" are missing). With a good dose of humor, and the dubbing of voices in French is good (The voice of "MCCree" is "Jason Statham", I love hearing his comments during the game)

A good investment, and I think I'll spend time on this game (while awaiting all of the things that is missing on Planet Coaster)

Very nice that you're enjoying it as well [big grin] I felt the same way about the long walks from spawn at first, but I got used to it after a while. It's like that for gameplay purposes, allowing the other team more time to move the payload or capture the objective.

Play Symmetra and place down the teleports, that way no long walks! Just make sure you have a Lucio or Mercy to take up the healing reins. Have been playing it loads and really love what they've done with the game, all of the characters feel balanced and all bring something unique to the table. The matches are always well paced and fun, really enjoy having to switch heroes to counter changes in the team as it makes you think a lot more about what's going on in the game. Mostly enjoying the support and tank characters (Winston <3).

I'm not too fussed about the economic model for the game as the paid content is only for getting cosmetic stuff that I don't really care about anyway, unlocked a few legendary skins from just playing normally and don't even use most of those!
