Existing themes expanded?

Just curious here..

Right now we have 2 themes. Planet coaster theme and Pirate.
I wonder if more pieces will be added to those 2 themes? Or will it just be new themes?

Don't get me wrong, don't want to sound greedy. Im just curious to know of how many pieces a theme wil exist.

I seem to me like there missing pieces like half wall,1/4 wall, 1/4 floor. There nor even a proper roof for the sandstorm tower so I hope there extended. Especially if the game only launch with the 6 themes in the folders.

There seems to be a fair bit of evidence in the 3rd Developer Diary to suggest that, no, Alpha users are not yet playing with all the items for the themes they currently have access to (you can see a few different kinds of lights that I have not seen in Alpha videos, some signs, different ride queue arches/entrances, some standalone pirate theme items like single animatronic pirates, larger in wall animated cannons...etc). You can also look back to various bits of art and render designs that have been shared on Twitter. It would all definitely suggest there's more to come to expand on what themes are already in the Alpha.

I went and revisited the 3rd dev diary again to seek out some specific things I noticed related to the pirate and generic themes that do not yet appear to be in the Alpha. Bear in mind I don't have access myself as I am eagerly awaiting this year's Nvidia GPUs. I'm enjoying countless youtube and twitch videos of others playing however so have to base my knowledge of current Alpha build content on those.

Here, look...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maYufgvcRis&ab_channel=PlanetCoaster

00m 23s: A huge pile of gold coins (beside the treasure chest which is in the alpha), different style of ride entrance.

0.26s: A pirate themed bench (two barrels with a blank between them). You can spot this close up in the pre-Alpha live stream Q&A with John Laws.

0:58s: You can see the pirate wearing a barrel from the pirate band on the roof as a standalone object.

1m 11s: Larger animated wall cannons (?) than the ones I have seen in Alpha videos, skull lamps on the walls of both buildings, benches in front of the building on the left.

At 2m 05s: those skull lamps again hanging on the walls, a different ride entrance arch in background, pirate themed chicken burger sign (chicken burger stall is not yet in the alpha either).

2m 30s: More benches, a dual circular street lamp I have not spotted in Alpha videos, bins/trash cans. Another type of ride entrance arch in the distance (white stone with a blue track piece beneath it).

2m. 42s. Those skull lamps again, and a pirate themed food sign hanging from the building,

It is certainly possible some of these items have since been abandoned and what footage we saw prior to the Alpha release featured objects and designs the team might have simply been trying out, but I am quite confident there's more to come from the themes people are already having an opportunity to play with.

sure hope so, I dont want all the items in the alpha because I want to be surpirsed when playing the game but Id say we have about 1/3 of what each theme should have.

DAMN ...

Did you notice all those things by yourself? I wouldn't have catched them in a 1000 years [big grin]
thanks!! this does indeed confirm the themes have more object then we currently have :)

To what Dr Clownius noticed in the video, you can add a new coaster entrance at 2:04, a ladder at 2:44 and a damn new flat ride at 2:49!!!

Add to that a number of new coaster trains we haven't seen yet.

Haha, I certainly did not notice all those things on first viewing, even second, but yes those are things I noticed myself (though I am sure others have too. These games breed communities who pour over every frame of every video :) ). Things like the pile of gold coins and the twin circular street lamps I only noticed when re-watching the video again before writing my reply above.

The pirate themed bench of "two barrels with a blank between them" should of course read "plank." :)

You will also notice in dev diary 3 that the standalone cannon objects are animated, whereas they are static in the Alpha. That actually prompted me to post in the suggestions forum the other day as in most cases I'd prefer objects like that to be static and the team might have decided to keep them static for all I know, but if them being animated is simply something the developers have not yet implement in the Alpha build then I'd certainly love us to have the choice to toggle object animations like that off and on. I feel similarly for the animated wall cannons too.

One piece we definitely need for a Pirate Theme is a Parrot! An animated Parrot added to the Pirate Band, would look good squawking "Pieces of Eight" [haha] [haha] [haha]

At 4:15 it looks like there is a designer with a new ride on her screen. "Zipper" Type flat ride.

Another possible pirate/nautical theme item spotted elsewhere but not yet in the Alpha... Are the puffer fish and pirate ship stone objects you can see in the modular fountain design from the John Laws Q&A live stream available yet? I don't recall seeing them in any of the Alpha videos I have been watching. I know the pirate statue are there along with giant stone clams and mermaids.

In looking for all the little things, have I also missed the most glaringly obvious addition of all from Dev Diary 3 that is currently lacking in the Alpha? Is that a completely different kind of stone wall texture on display in the pirate section? Go to 1m 41s and 2min 43s and look at the circular tower. That's a more sandy colour and a different brickwork texture to the stone walls I have seen in Alpha build videos (the darker stone walls in the Alpha also have more obvious grouting between the bricks).

PS: Yes please to parrot animatronics (.... with the option to attach custom MP3s for their voices [big grin] ).

Both of those are in the alpha actually.

I hope that these themes will be expanded. I love the stuff that´s already there but I also feel like a lot is still missing.

For example, we do need some cool pirate animatronics for the creation of rides. And I support Costerbuffs parrot idea. Maybe some
more animal animatronics. Monkeys would be nice and - while the Krake is awesome- I´d love to see some sharks - similar to RCT3!

For further clarification, this is the Pirate wall I noticed in Dev Diary 3 that seems to differ from anything I have seen in the Pirate theme toolset from Alpha videos.

Compared to the stone wall in the Alpha, the texture of this one is different, there's no thick grouting between bricks and this one is also a lighter more sandy colour...etc. It's quite possible this was an early, and since abandoned, version of the brick wall we see in the Alpha of course, but hopefully it is in fact an alternative that will be there in the final game.

What makes me think it is an alternative rather than an earlier version is that you can see a corner piece in the lower left corner from the darker Pirate brickwork design that is in the Alpha, and you can see for yourself how the two styles contrast.

Good catch.

Also, there is this barrel type in the video. Click for full resolution.

Have we seen that yet?

I would think we have more to come in the two themes we have, if only because we have no path specific props like trashcans and benches, they usually stick them with their appropriate themes if RCT3 is anything to go by...speaking of benches - remember the animation shown of the teenager sitting down to eat something at a table? Makes me think we will be getting forecourts for food type buildings, not relying on the current path widths....where else would this kind of prop go?

Looks new, yes. I wonder what's supposed to be in them? Looks like rocks, perhaps chipped away in the home of finding gold nuggets and the like (though that would be more in town with a Wild West theme). You can also see the hanging wall versions of the skull candle lights in that screenshot which I mentioned. I think I have only seen the in ground version of those in Alpha videos. Great design.

I think we might be left to design those kind of forecourts for ourselves, but I've a feeling we're definitely going to see people sit down and eat, yes! I know it's only concept art, and what we see there should never be considered gospel, but a recent art tweet showed some concepts for various table designs, so at the very least (in addition to the animation you mentioned) we know that peeps being shown to sit down and eat in the parks is something on the minds of the creative team.

There's one other thing which caught my eye on a lot of these videos, and apologies to the OP as it does slightly veer off from discussing expansions of themes already in the alpha, but this image from the John Laws Q&A caught my eye. You can see a nice Cosmic Cow sign/menu on the grass there which I don't think I have seen in Alpha videos, but look at the decking behind it. There's a couple of benches and a trash can there which, yes, we know are not yet in the Alpha, but are they placed there on the decking purely for the sake of attractive realistic design, or is the park guest AI eventually going to be able to let them step up off the pathways and onto raised surfaces like that and sit down...etc?
