Coaster Smoothness

I've noticed that when I place an element (as opposed to a standard track), a long section of unwanted track is placed before my element. It's as if I placed two sections of track, when I only wanted one section. This mostly happens when I am building along, and then delete several sections, going backwards. I am not sure if I am explaining this correctly, I may need a whiteboard and several hours of powerpoint presentations.

That is because pre-made elements will be placed after the next regular piece of track you would place. It's a bit strange yea but just keep that in mind. But this doesn't really have to do anything with the smoothing issues.

Gosh. The tracked rides are seriously starting to feel like a secondary feature rather than the actual point of the game. The new spooky tracked rides don't even have breaks! And you for the Huntsman you can't see a preview of the car rotation. What the heck guys? What is going on?

What does that have to do with coaster smoothing?

Has more to do with the fact that they really haven't addressed many track issues, including smoothness. They just keep adding to things and then those new things have problems. It'll be interesting to see if they ever address these things before the players do.

I hear you. It's that poorly implemented and therefore useless Display Sequencer all over again. I'm starting to get the feeling that most issues (be it with the coaster builder, path editor, lighting engine, etc) cannot be fixed or improved at this stage without redesigning the systems from scratch. That won't happen since doing so won't generate enough revenue to justify the costs. So until it is time to start on the do-over/ sequel, they just mask the shortcomings with affordable quick wins. E.g. churning out more (paid) scenery content and break ground on entirely new systems, which in term are also incomplete, flawed or both.

Let's face it, if it aint scenery it aint worth it.

Even the new in-decent coaster shows this. Can only use pre-made track pieces, which have a completely wrong shape.

Yeah I saw the jerkyness immediately when I made a quick one to see how it worked, I wonder why they can't even get premade pieces smooth especially for a ride that goes from zero degrees to 90 degrees, just calculate the circle

Yup.. Just look at that jitter.

Not to mention the entire shaping of this track piece is completely incorrect. It pulls 8 Gs at 120 mph.

I do like the different tunnel styles tho.

I really wish they would at least give some insight as to what the devs think. It’s blatantly obvious they are ignoring the thread all together. 16 pages, and still no response? Seriously? The game is called planet COASTER, not planet DLC. This game had so much hope when the alphas were out, and now look at the forums. Honestly I would be delighted with a “cleanup” update, where they fix all the game breaking bugs such as security, and really focus on cleaning up the coaster builder and other smaller management issues. It’s honeslty sad.

That would be great. Theres are a lot of fixes this game needs, not just new scenery.

someone said they acknowledged it in a stream a few days ago but i cant remember which thread or if it was this one

Saying they acknowledged it makes it sound like they said something about it. They really just said they know people are unhappy and that they haven't said anything rock solid on the future of DLC... and thats about it.

So they know. But I don't think they want to directly say anything to us out of fear of saying the wrong thing. But it would be nice if they made a post of things they've heard and are looking to implement in the future. I'm not buying that DLC till I know these new tracks get some needed attention.

Guys, there have been several times where Frontier said "No" to certain things (like a friction slider, or swapping cars) but both of those things have been changed. They have made many changes to the game based on user feedback (more biomes, no collision, etc.)

I think november we will see improvements to coasters, because it is the biggest complaint around here, and frontier wants to support coaster enthusiasts the most (i would think) just be patient it only another month before we find out

To me, the slight bumps in coasters are not as big of a problem as other things (like the lack of simpler/faster terrain tools, and simpler/faster wall building tools)

Yeah, the accidentally revealed train-swap feature was at least reassuring that the defacto "It is being looked into" actually means something. It is not the equivalent of putting a "Suggestion Box" sticker on top of the shredder; They are truly considering most feedback, even though the solutions occasionally feel like kludge.

However the thing that concerns me is that new content apparently also rolls out in an unpolished state. How can this have passed quality control if players notice this almost immediately on day one? Of course the new coaster is free so we can't look a gifted horse in the mouth, but the hefty priced DLC also has its fair share of blunders. Textures not being seamless or blurry, furniture that is not re-colorable (yet pumpkins are?) and two darkrides with such counter-intuitive controls that you build them once for the novelty of, it and then never bother with them again.
