I want to preface this post by letting you know I've played all the previous versions of RCT including Frontier's RCT3 and expansions. I truly enjoyed RCT3 and all the custom content people created and even created some stuff myself. Anyone that played that game knows there were forums, and that Atari didn't really care about players input at the end of the day.
Fast forward to today. Frontier has created a new RCT type of game and now also publishes it. When PC first came out we all had no idea about future expansions and what we could expect. We also had no idea how well it would perform on our computers, and some of us even upgraded them just to play it. There were issues initially with performance and some still remain. I feel that Frontier has handled everything so far very well. Not many people understand what goes into making a game for a windows pc. It's impossible to make a game that will run perfectly on the thousands of possible computer configurations that exist, yet people seem to demand that Frontier make the game run better on "their" computer. In all reality, as a company, they must make difficult decisions based on imperfect information. If a large percentage of the customer base has no performance issues and they may not focus on the issue. Also, there are a lot of people who will complain without letting Frontier know they had an issue.
When DLC was announced once again everyone spoke out on what they wanted and some were disappointed again. The problem with any add-ons or expansions for any game are like movies sequels. When a new movie is released people have an open mind to whatever and usually, the movie does well. When sequels or prequels come out they usually don't perform well, why? People have expectations or things they want to see in a sequel and when that's missing they leave a bad review. Only Frontier knows what future DLC or expansions may exist and I'm fine with the business model that they have used so far. Does it make me sad when a DLC comes out that does not have something I want, of course.
My biggest issue still remains with people lambasting Froniter for not fixing "their" issues or not adding rides/scenery that they want. I know that they do listen to their customer base, and they try very hard to keep the majority of us happy. I am willing to bet, given time, PC will continue to be an awesome game, even with the "issues" it has. The best thing you can do is post your thoughts, and keep playing.
