Frontier and the flack they receive....

@Citytrader - I understand and I do agree with you, but I am one of the few who doesnt take the baited carrot and stick routine [wink] thats why I try to make a fuss about DLC when I can, because I know this game could sell a lot more if it catered to a more casual crowd.

I am a hardcore gamer. I play many games, some at a highly skilled and competitive level. There have been many games I have played where fans of the game get upset when developers try to make a game newbie-friendly, such as with multiplayer shooting games. However, PlanCo and/or RCT games are not of that breed, this is not a competitive game. And therefore, adding more casual friendly toolsets are a big deal for a game like this, which is why I constantly bring up the fact that we need to bring back the old school terrain grid with cubed 90 degree walls of terrain. I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but sooner or later, the game needs simpler better easier tools especially for terrain as it would bring in more players and reduce the amount of tedium people see with this game

Maybe I'm going off topic but, I'm sick of debating the differences between marketing strategies and hearing about communication. Its obviously clear that frontier has quietted down a lot on these forums, which I guess I understand why, I dislike their DLC so far, I have high hopes for the game in the long run still. and so I'll just keep repeating my main points of topics and suggestions for this game/genre/series/whatever [heart]

Every update does have good stuff in it, every update we see the game grow and thats great to see! but I also see ach update as missing big things that should have been in the game from the start. Maybe you are right about the legal aspect, I dont know anything about intellectual property and how it effects the way frontier programs this game, I mean it's really lame that these big companies cant all just learn to work together for the benefit of everybody zzz lol yea o well

Anyway, I know I request a lot of things around here, and slowly the devs have checked things off the list. Theres still so much more to go, but I really hope terrain tools are just taking a long time because of how complicated the voxel stuff is. As I say all the time since many people dont get it, but I am not asking to remove the voxel editor, just simply add the option to enable a grid for terrain walls and easier angles, and it would really help people who want to make darker indoor rooms too!

Planet Coaster is not a hardcore game. It is already catered more towards more casual players. The reason the game seems hardcore is because the tools all have problems that make them tedious to use which turns casual players away.

In this way the game is its own worst enemy.

Exactly, the hardcore players like Silvarette can handle the tedium, but many casual players are instantly turned away by the clunky UI. and a game like this should want to be as simple to pick up and play as possible, but instead you have to learn 100 hotkeys (which is not for casual gamers)

No game in the world is perfect, neither is Planet Coaster. But i can definatly say this is my favorite game ever...

This game has given me so many hours of joy AND equaly important, it gave me a whole new group of friends both online and in real life!

I remember the launch of the Alpha like yesterday and i was HYPED. It's hard to imagine that was over 2 years ago but i can tell im as hyped nowdays as i was back then.
Personally i love this game and i love Frontier for making it. [heart]

I'm right there with you Vampiro.......Love the game and love Frontier too :) This game has given me so much entertainment and some awesome friendships over the past 2 years. What is better than that! :)

I agree as well I find Planet Coaster very entertaining and fun. Planet Coaster let's me be creative in so many ways. Frontier is the greatest and so is Planet Coaster.

Classify me as a fanboy if you must, but I too love the game. Only game I play. Is it perfect, no way, but that doesn't stop me from playing it and I don't get irate and stop playing it if I run across something isn't perfect or if I have issues with a particular pathway. If I really ever see something that is detrimental to me playing...I guess I will just stop playing the game and move on with my life. I know I paid for it and I should get what I paid for (BTW - I personally think I have), etc, but seriously...its a game and for under $100 its not the end of of the world if its not perfect. If that kind of funding isn't for you, then maybe playing games should not be on your list of fun things to do?

I find some things take longer to do than RCT3 like placing diagonal walls while in a building grid, you have to build an extra wall and disconnect it from the grid, manually rotate it and line it up with the building. RCT2 and 3? Just select diagonal wall and place. In fact, I don’t believe RCT3 had diagonal walls by default, but there were lots of custom diagonal walls. Gridded paths, RCT2 and 3 you can just mass place path down but Planet Coaster when using the grid you have to place each path square one at a time. That takes more time.

The problem with your post isn't that you're a fanboy, it's the fallacy. Your statement implies that people are demanding a perfect game. Can't you see that is a mischaraterization? No game will ever be perfect, period. So what your statement does is make your "opposition" seem unreasonable and that's not fair.

Great for you if you got your money's worth. Others don't feel that way though. Just telling them they're wrong because you feel different is a super weak argument.

But that is exactly what everybody does in this and all the other "Planet Coaster" discussions....

You are doing the exact same thing.

No offense to you in person, but it's beginning to be a bit sad in general honestly.

The "Planet Coaster" disussions are more about the way Frontier handles their business or about not getting into an agreement about opinions.
These threads don't even stay on-topic for more than 5 minutes.

I must disagree here. A lot of feedback I see here is backed up by some reasons and usually ideas how to improve things. On the other hand, people who disagree with that very often says it's only personal opinion, request statistics or just say the game is fine (but don't say why they think it's fine or why it shouldn't get better in their opinion.).if people say the find economy in game unbalanced and easy, they tell you you can either adjust it in scenario editor or that it's hard to see what balanced is (its developers work to do this and it is possible, because they did it right many times in the past).

And people saying we want it perfect are just wrong and unfair. We want it to be the best possible and that should be our goal as a community. Not being demanding on developers will not lead to the progress.

And I think it's honestly not bad to discuss how they do the business. It influents the game and community directly. It's still just a discussion and doesn't hurt anyone imo

It is indeed not bad, I have to say, I didn't really mean "everybody".

Actually. I don't hang around the "Planet Coaster Discussions" that often anymore.

Simple to say, I am like wowman very happy with the current state of the game, AND, why should I disagree with things that could make the game better.

I'm just not bothered into discussions about how Frontier does their business, or anything related to that.
Because.... Their business, their plans....

Yes, indeed it is. However how they do it directly impacts other things, including a community and this forum. Honestly, I do not expect miracles, at least a slight improvement in communication would be nice.

I´m a bit surprised they do it the same way all the time, even if they had a chance to learn from what it did to the community in the past. Like the upcoming DLC , I hope it´s big and super exciting to justify the silence surrounding it, because it´s also a mistake to announce it like this. Community got unleashed and started hyping themselfs, based on pure speculations. Now expectations are very high from some people and if it´s not met, they will get upset. So DLC must be real good one. It is a mistake of these people, but also partialy Frontier´s mistake too.

It's our passion for this game that drives us crazy. Somehow this is the only theme park game that meets our expectations of how a theme park simulator should look. And we are trying everything we can to make this game better. That leads to big discussions, sometimes very hard ones, but in the end the game still gets updated and gets better. Maybe we are foolish to put so much passion into "A GAME",but for us this is our sense in life,to imagine and build our own theme parks, like the imagineers for disney and efteling and other big parks did.[downcast]And that is also what makes us as a community special. We hold together, even in the darkest days, including the devs.[heart]

Frontier is not a perfect company, but they do listen to our suggestions for the game a lot and they are a lot better than that other company..*throw up*..atari. Yeah sometimes they should learn from their mistakes, but they have to create these packs and they probably now better than we when they can surely say that they can announce the updates and dlc packs. So while ut seems hard sometimes,we probably have to accept it[wink].
