PSA: From your friendly Lakon Spaceways Pilots

Greetings Commanders!

On behalf of pilots of Lakon Spaceways Type-6 and Type-9 transport vessels across the galaxy, we bring you this important safety bulletin. There has been a marked increase in near-fatal incidents involving Lakon Type-6 and Type-9 vessels when entering and exiting spaceports in many systems.

When entering or exiting a spaceport, it is important to remember to give a Type-6 or Type-9 pilot plenty of room to maneuver. These are large vessels with much inertia, and have little to no ability to react to sudden obstructions of the portal opening.

Please remember to check your scanner for incoming or outgoing vessels before starting on your approach vector, as there may not be time for a pilot already in such a maneuver to abort. In an effort to keep the entry portal clear a good pilot of a Lakon vessel will make an entry or exit as quickly as possible. Those few seconds could save your ship from destruction, and will prevent costly losses by both parties.

If joining a Type-9 in the approach pattern, please remember to keep the portal entry path clear once inside the station. Hesitation inside the portal can result in traffic collisions or docking infractions. It is also recommended that any Type-9 within 500m of the portal be given right-of-way, as an incoming approach speed may be higher to keep time before rotational correction short.

This has been a Public Service Announcement, brought to you by Lakon Spaceways. Thank you for your courtesy and cooperation, and fly safe!

"Lakon: We move worlds."

Type 6's are easy to maneuver and juke around. They're relatively small too.

This. I wish they felt different, but fully loaded they feel just like an empty one.

Still saving for a Type 9, would like to see just how bad they might feel when socking, must be getting close, got 2.3M, just not seen any for sale lately.

Slim

compared to a Space Cow the type 6 is a butterfly :) took out 2 npcs yesterday that thought they could get past as i was docking ...

When you're sitting in a Viper there is only one speed and that speed is...

RAMMING SPEEEEEEED!

Mainly posted for those that have pancaked against my hull in the past few days. There have been at least 3.

I agree the Type 6 is not bad, but since going back to the Type-9 it's been more common.

Today I had a guy in a Sidewinder cut in front of me just as I entered the portal, then slow to a crawl as I was pushing through at 100m/s. It's like being brake-checked in an 18-wheeler. Nothing to do but *splat*.

When I was in the 6, I would regularly boost out of the station, ramming & exploding any stupid NPC dawdling about. Only problem was that it became a habit...
...and after a while, I stopped checking to see if it was really an NPC. As long as they dawdled, they got smacked.
Oops. :D

That's some good advice. IMO it's good info to put in a beginners faq or a pilots guide or something.

why, back in my day, we KNEW how to fly frighters! and didnt need to ask for special docking priviledges! *grumble* kids these days are so spoiled and self entitled! the species is going to the dogs i tell ya!

while I enjoyed that a lot :D You would have probably failed you test with that maneuver!

Yeah, for a few moments there I felt certain that bits of my Lakon were going to end up decorating the side of the station. She flies well, though!

Also, small ships are an excellent substitute for air brakes.

Not spoiled at all. I don't care one way or the other if a nublet in a Sidey splats on my cockpit glass. But they might, and this is purely to help those with less experience avoid me while i thread the needle with my 600t freighter at full churn. There's no "dawdling" going on on my end.

I've got inventory to deliver or I don't get paid.
