Is the light through indoor walls fixed?

Hi guys,

Could someone tell me if the issue with ambient lighting going through walls has been fixed yet.. or if it will be fixed? I'm interested in the spooky update, but I'm not sure how you can make a haunted house if the lights go through the walls... I checked the update logs but didn't see anything.

Thanks.

No it doesn't block light. However you could make a very thin layer of terrain between ceilings so it does get dark but it takes some more work and is pretty much useless when moving or copy&pasting blueprints let alone share them on the workshop.

A bit like this:

You could also do double walls and add terrain there to make it extra dark. But it's not possible to move it or copy paste or share it because other people dont have the terrain

Sadly it doesn't get as dark as at night[sour].Hope they are still on it like with the terrain colors(thanks to andy chappel[wink]).It would be really cool if they make it till the anniversary update.Would be a big game changer![praise]

So how are they making the haunted houses? I really don't want to have to put terrain on top of the rides.... I'm assuming everyone is going to do double walls?

I'm having problems myself.Making it underground works, but then you have very long stairs to theme[wink].And i don't want that,so i guess i just switch to night[sour].

The only issue with the lighting is daylight coming in closed buildings, correct? So I guess switching to night mode will indeed fix that. Was there also an issue with wall lights shining through to the other side as well?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Is the OP talking about sunlight or scenery lights/spotlights? If sun, then set clock to night time when any good haunted house should be viewed.

Otherwise, yes it would be nice if lamp light didn't leak through solid brick walls.

I was at first talking about the spotlights and things like that... but it's been a while since I played and thought that maybe it was the daylight issue I got annoyed with. But yes, it's the spotlights and wall lights that I am asking about.

Is there anything that can be done about this? I thought that this would have been fixed

Spotlights and ambient lights bleeding through scenery and walls is a problem in many videogames, Planet Coaster is no exception. It is handy if you try to hide fixtures inside a bush or rock, but it backfires when trying to light different rooms separately. There is nothing we can do about this right now, the ball is in Frontier's park.

It was quite lame/ ballsy to release a scenery pack that revolves around darkrides when the game clearly doesn't handles the "dark" part of that term very well, but maybe Frontier is onto something with the upcoming update. We can only hope.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at.. of course each room of a haunted house needs to be lit up separately. I had assumed this kind of pack would only be released if that issue was fixed.

So what workarounds do you guys do for the indoor lighting then?

Have they ever officially said anything about this.. like they are working on it? I'm not really understanding how they released a haunted house pack when lighting the haunted house is kind of broken. What workarounds do you guys use when adding lighting to the interiors?

They said a looong time ago that visual effects won't be occluded by scenery. Thus, walls won't contain smoke either.

Likewise, things like smoke and mist are not impacted by light, which renders them useless in dark rides and night parks. I ran into this problem in an immensely frustrating way when building the Alien derelict egg chamber in a coaster build, and I could not get the mist to show up at all. Obviously putting the scenery in daylight was not an option with that scene.

Yeah, I hope they can figure out a work around for this problem.
