The Newbie Blitz

SO.... I'm new to Planet Coaster (don't judge) and I'm trying to sort out everything that impacts my parks. I really like challenge modes in these kinds of games (I don't like unlimited money) though I do find that I've got some problems with getting a profitable park and then letting a few hours pass while I tweek scenery and end up probably with WAY more money than I should have.

I appreciate all the video tutorials but I'm more of a reader and there are some things I can't quite figure out from the in game help (or I've thought at while at work and not able to get in the game to check the help).

a) Is there any benefit to a sign near to a queue area? Right now my coasters don't have any signage because I totally missed that I could edit signs. I was putting in spot lights and realized that there's not much reason to light up the outside of the barn that houses one of my coaster's load station. It's... a barn...

b) Is it "good" to plan two rail systems? One going clockwise and one going counter? Thinking of 4 regions to the park, I understand people will walk counter clockwise one region, rather than ride a train through the other 2. Is it a bad idea to run a second line counter so there's always a train to help speed up travel and help keep my guests from walking too much between regions and rides?

c) Does anyone actually charge for bathrooms? I can't get past seeing my guests say "I'm so glad Bathroom 10 is free!" All I can think is "uh... dude... I'm a capitalist, not a jerk".

Thanks!

a. I'm still trying to figure it out. I got a lot of signs but it doesn't seem to me that it has an impact. (or probably it is because I advertised all my rides).

b. two rail systems? You mean two transport rides? I currently am building a park with a boat ride around the center and a train ride on the outside of the park. If they wanna go somewhere fast they do prefer the transport rides more than walking. Having two systems working both directions should help them get at other places in the park faster so yes it speeds up. I have them both set in a clockwise direction and it works okay as well.

c. Yes, 0,10 cents. I've always done that as long as I can remember, even in RCT 1. They don't care that much about the 10 cents. Never got any complains and no profits as well, but it's keeping the costs low.

a) Signs can be set to an advertised destination -- if you do that it encourages guests to go there. Don't skip that step, guests can't read. [woah]

c) Bathrooms cost money to maintain -- in money-tight scenarios charging as much as the guests will tolerate ($1, last I looked) is necessary. [yesnod]

I'm back with more:

a) If you only get one expansion which do you pick up? I'm leaning towards the adventure pack but I kinda also want that "spin them around" track ride thing to play with so I can make some fun themed "roll along and look at the cool scenery" stuff.

If it matters for that I generally play in challenge mode but not on Hard.

b) Does advertising in the park really drive people? My newer roller coaster in the back of Westwood has a sign in the park center (which points at ALL the Westwood attractions), one at the entrance of the area, and the sign on the building all "advertising" for it. My workhorse coaster in the park center only has the sign on the queue pointing at it. Since I started putting signs out there to point at things, ridership on the coaster in the middle of the park has TOTALLY tanked and now nearly EVERYone in the park is hanging out back in Westwood. And they're totally slammed because wtih all those people my drink stands can't keep up so people are dying of thirst.

I posted this before:

Career/management Guide:

-only build the necessities (coffee will not sell if you have lots of benches, dont hire entertainers)
- 1 drink, 1 food, and 1 toilet is needed for about every 5rides so if u have 7-8 rides you probably only need 2 drinks maybe 1-2foods and 1 toilet, or if you have 12 rides maybe do 3 drinks 2 food 2 toilets
- build rides in groups, I try to keep 3-4 rides with all the queue entrances close together next to each other, and rides exits leading out the opposite side of the entrance (or vice versa with exits all near each other)
- try to keep paths in simple loops around the rides so that you can have intersections with the food stalls all near each other, like say you have 3-4 rides on one side, 3-4 on the other, you could essentially get away with less shops if you place them accordingly in between
- never research shops/scenery unless you absolutely have to (use the scenery trick if you want to save money)
- you dont always need an atm if you can beat the scenario quickly, but on harder scenarios you should get the atm asap
- only buy 1 cheap advertisement at a time never anymore, buy a different demographic now and then (teens for a few months, then adult)
- only research a few select rides, mostly intense rides, no slow track rides, I try to stay away from too many family rides
- set parks hours to be open 12am-12am

- using infinitys guide to set prices helps achieve objectives even faster https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=877268657
- the shop prices are not as important as I just left everything on default https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1103779725
- maximize scenery with less money http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808586159
- the only really challenging objectives are the coaster related ones (which can be downloaded via blueprints)
- if security is enabled, make sure to research cameras asap and place cameras every 30meters and set a few guards to stand on patrol as close to your park entrance as you can

Challenge Mode Guide:
- if playing challenge mode on the harder/hardest difficulty, the most challenging aspect is watching the age of your rides (or Reputation) which means that any rides which are between 5-20 years old will not be able to make money as no guests will ride them (not even if they are free) but once you have a few classic rides you have essentially beaten challenge mode as you will become super rich
