GameSpot Interview John Laws on Alpha 2 Upgrades

A bit surprised not to see the 4D-Coaster, but may be a bit more complicated to make and use. People should accustom to use the builder first before going more complex i guess.

I remember Zac saying that the 4D coaster would not be in alpha 2 when he released the initial pictures of it

Ah Ok. Thank you.

So many details already to have a look at. The new light scheme, the new trees....

What was interesting to note was that in the IGN video it was stated that was build 1.6 something rather than 2.0 so my assumption would be they have things planned for 1.7 to 2.0 that we haven't seen as they are still working on heavily prior to the release date of 24th May, which also was confirmed pretty much in both videos with one being on the 24th and one being around the 24th.

A lot in there, no wooden or 4D coasters from what I could see but that's fine because they are very different in design & structure compared to what they have been working on.

I still don't see water happening with a slim chance of a code to unlock. They have stated on a number of occasions that it wouldn't be in the game at Phase 2 so can only hope.

With regards to the written review from Shacknews is that they would not likely of written about restaurants or the little bit about management without some of the dev team at least hinting towards what would be in game in the future so that is pretty big news too.

We are certainly on Hype Train 2.0 at moment #InFrontierWeTrust

Don't get too carried away here guys..

There is a fair chance some of this stuff won't be in Alpha 2. Obviously the terrain tools will be, but don't expect anything else you see here. Keep your expectations in check.

I don't think anyone is running away with themselves all that much. We will know the details of the coasters tomorrow evening and the path updates already confirmed so that is the big changes anyways.

Gulpee has been confirmed as has new modular build pieces for the current in game themes. The new interface for coasters looks good.

Water I feel is still unlikely at least without the cheat code and even then only a minor chance.

The adjustment to lighting and similar would have no impact or reason not to be in the release so that I would be willing to bet is there.

Adam

Yeah, some people are going to be unnecessarily disappointed.

Remember that videos are not yet Alfa 2. Maybe there will be things that will not be on Alfa2, and others added.... Who knows...

Anyway #HypeTrainIsCommingAgain hahahah

For me the terrain tools are the biggest and most important update to alpha 2.
Anything extra will be a very welcome bonus.

Edit: Im not very good with Coaster names ect but i noticed the 4 seat inverted B&M is called the "Rival"
Rival = Nemesis. Are there any other similarities you guys see?

I am just looking forward to whatever we do get in alpha 2.

It has alredy been suggested, that there might be water with a cheat code, for creating lakes, which will save having to create artificial water effects, but I am not holding my breath on this. It seems that full blown water effects like flowing water, waterfalls and the like are still being worked on, as too, is the wooden coaster and it's variants. We might get a few more flat rides, but the biggest improvements will be the terrain tools and new path elements that we have already seen. I think there has been some mention in last weeks live stream, that we will be getting some camera improvements, including edge map scrolling. I also think we will be getting Mount Rushmore as another landscaped park map, to have fun with. Not sure if we will get a few more shops, unless the Gulpee drinks stall will be added, to go with the Gulpee mascot, which we know will be in there. As far as anything else, I take it as a bonus, but whatever we get, this alpha version is going to enable some pretty mind blowing park designs from those who are imaginative enough to create them.

I am just wondering how the other game developers will react to this, when they see how advanced this game is becoming.

I agree that what we see wasn't the build we will get next week.

If memory serves me correctly the animation team confirmed the rides (flatrides) would have animated exits and entrances in Alpha 2.
While in the video's we have been seeing they are not animated yet.

Im glad we will get some coasters in Alpha 2!
Seems like we will be getting the junior coaster which i think is awesome!

To bad no wooden coaster yet and no spinning coaster.
And am i right this one isn't in alpha 2 as well? (As far as we have seen so far)
