General / Off-Topic I am done with Planet Coaster

I think I was misunderstood. I probably used the wrong word, what I meant by community was all the people who rather than discuss the merits of Planet Coaster choose to talk about RCTW and how it is going to fail. Well RCTW gets updates almost every week so they don't look to me like they are going under. Quite the opposite in fact. I get tired of hearing how terrible the game is and blah blah blah. I happen to like both games and both games have their pluses and minuses. So why not just discuss Planet Coaster on Planet Coaster forums and leave RCTW out of it. If you don't like the game then why not just keep it to yourself, rather than trying to ruin somebody elses enjoyment of the game.

This is an online forum where people do the complete opposite of keeping their feelings to themselves. Are you new to the internet? You're also on the Planet Coaster website. I don't know why you expect some equal representation or fairness for RCTW here, it's just never going to happen.

You're more than welcome to like any game you want just as others are allowed to express why they don't. If you're finding yourself not enjoying RCTW as much as you used to, that's the game not this or any other community. You're in for a long road ahead if you let others opinions influence the enjoyment you get out of a game.

Agreed, this is just a thread attempt to trash this community.

I don't know why anyone would come to planetcoaster.com expecting meaningful RCTW discussions and then start a thread telling the community it's their fault that they're losing enjoyment in their game(s) because they say negative things about it. ...

BUT if mods do delete/lock this thread, they'll probably claim that this place censors RCTW fans and this place is just one big planet coaster fanclub. To which I respond; No duh, you're on planetcoaster.com!

If negative thoughts about RCTW stresses out kasmar so much, there's an entire RCTW website dedicated just for them and others,

kasmar45 - from what I've seen RCTW is only covered in one place on this forum which is the Off-Topic section.

I'm going to keep this short, but there are valid reasons for some to be unhappy with that game purely by the way it was handled prior to Early Access (which technically should have been a full release). Sure there are several updates for it now but it may be a bit late (and I will be clear that I'm neutral when it comes to that game).

I think kasmar wants to be able to talk about RCTW in a "Constrictive Discussion" kind of thread where "Peeps need a lot of work" is allowed but "omg these peeps are so horrible! wow! how can anyone like this game?!" is not.

Which is fine and I bet the mods would let him but I don't think you're going to get a lot people discussing much in such a thread. Very little people are talking about it on all the popular RCT community forums including their own official RCTW one. The Steam community seems to be the only place that can get more than a dozen threads a day but that's a mixed bag of fans, haters and angry buyers.

The devs can keep working on it and good for them but...first impressions are usually the last and just about everything on their list is "soon", there's no actual plan laid out for their players, it's just wait and see.

Look at the steep decline in their community participation since their Early Access started. More people are usually playing RCT3 on steam than RCTW. Their "Recent" reviews on Steam haven't gone up much in a while. Updates don't gain more interest. Even giving away amazon $$$ isn't generating buzz. Will they even have enough entries?

Sometimes you just have to face what's in front of you. [ugh]

For what kind of reason ?
Even if this topic is unnecessary, unfounded, and therefore, totally false, it seems it respects the rules.
Even if what he says is crap. Respect for freedom of expression is precisely what differentiates good from a bad community (like many other forums where the mod team play cowboys).

If this is really just a thread attempt to trash this community like cerealfruitcakes said, then it's a big fail.

The best solution is to ... just let it die !
Don't talk in it = End of the topic without censorship [happy][up]

I am enjoying this thread. It shows our community are happy to help and to have banter tbh.

Also if you don't feel like reading/seeing thread just skip past. I do that all the time with things that I am not interested in and just pick what I read and reply too and all is good [happy]

At least there was some comment on why the OP felt this way even if it did seem a bit of a non issue really for the most of us.

Edit: Just cause I feel like I want to add some more context. The same people that post about the RCTW and the thread itself are the same who are discussing how to improve PC.

The section that the RCTW thread is located in off topic and lets be honest a lot has happened. The thread started more positive but as things have moved on clearly the majority don't feel this way anymore. A lot of us really wanted it to succeed but unfortunately this does not seem to be the case.

Banter happens and people opinions will always be shown on forum especially somewhere that is directly competing/correlating to what those forums are about.

I don't think anyone really came to the RCTW thread when it started and originally thought we hate all the previous games lets trash talk and kick up a fuss just cause we can. It has maybe got derailed a lot in places because people have feelings they want to show with what has happened.

I still don't see that any reason to feel this community has done anything wrong or should be blasted for it either way.

First. We carved a little place to discuss RCTW here because we too wanted a good game and they Did not even try to deliver. Over on their forum they ban you for being honest. And if I talked to my wife about it she would look at me like I was speaking Greek. So talking about it here with others that cared about it only makes sense.

And if you reading our posts about how RCTW is a bad game because of X,Y,Z is ruining your experience playing it. That can only be because when you play it X,Y,Z is now more noticeable and therefore bothering you too.

I could read 800 pages about all that's wrong with Sushi and all it would do is make me hungry for sushi. But if I enjoyed a particular sushi restaurant and read a bunch of bad stuff about the resturant and went there anyway. I would probably start seeing all the problems that were pointed out.

Now. To address a couple of points. Weekly updates neither prove they are going under or doing well. We predict they will give up and consequently go under because that is what Atari has done more than once. Atari is following the exact same course with RCTW, rush it to market while in a buggy unplayable condition, ban and delete people who point it out while denying it's issues.
And as they are already in bankruptcy protection their funds are limited. Sorry, that's just facts. I hope they finish it too but I wouldn't bet my money on it.

So.

If you need to not have problems with RCTW brought to your attention in order to enjoy playing it, don't read RCTW posts on either forum. Just play the game. But just because you can't separate the two why should I have to stop having a conversation with other people that also want to talk about it?

Threads can be closed if requested by the OP for a valid reason, or if they brake the forum rules. As stated by the OP, he seems to have been misunderstood. Everyone is free to talk about their personal opinions, findings, etc. as long as they follow the forum rules and guidelines.

I am done with Planet Coaster and not because of the game, but because of the horrible community here. The game is coming along well and will someday be a fine simulation. I may come back then, but for now I am not going to play here.

Mate, I suggest you stay away from the majority of the Steam forums and especially forums like World of Tanks and World of Warships. This community is one of the best I have been to without a doubt.

Don't read that thread then? How exactly is it that people discussing RCTW ruins the enjoyment of RCTW for you or anyone? You don't get to come here and dictate to us what we can and cannot discuss. The mods have no issue with that that thread as long as certain issues are not mentioned so we as fans of this genre discuss and compare the game. If you feel that someone has stepped over the mark in any of the discussions there you're encouraged to report the post. Don't expect people just to pack up and leave just because you have an issue with the game being talked about though.

This has been an interesting thread to read. [rolleyes]
I hope in the end the outcome will be positive of it. We discuss, evaluate and define the attitude in this community and I feel we can be proud it. Because this is in overage a very respectful and nice community. [happy]

Sometimes people get offended by things they shouldn't be. Like others right to free speech and opinions. However, that is an issue of our global society today and we just have to keep explain to people why the right of speech and opinions are more important than there imagined right to filter it out.

It's kind of wild to think that the more we connect the world to the internet, the more likely we're going to come across and mingle with people that have less speech rights than others depending on where they live. [shocked]

going a little off topic there but that just made me go a little, "woh"

Kasmar45, we do have a forum feature to ignore threads (or whole forums).

If you want to ignore a thread, click Thread Tools then click Ignore this thread.

Perhaps this may be of use if you don't wish to read the large thread about RCTw? [happy]
