Concrete texture - real parks aren't built in fields...

Been trying to build a very realistic amusement type park, and it's not really possible as we can't replace the grass with concrete. Think Six Flags parks, it's all paved in one way or another, and coasters in particular have either concrete or at least gravel/aggregate under the rails.

In RCT3 there was a simple concrete slab texture that was very useful - can we get something similar in PC?

I also found this today, if you recolour a ride base with 'natural' path it shows the terrain beneath. If I just had a terrain texture that represented something more man made than grass/sand/rock I could paint under the rides having removed the default bases:

The great thing about this suggestion is it requires nothing more than an artist to create the new terrain texture - the image above shows we already have the functionality in place, it's literally just the art that's missing and if we had it, people would be able to build parks that start to look very different :)

Aside of the fact that I think these concrete parks/six flags parks etc all look the same instead of "different" and aside of the fact that there definitely are parks that are closer to being a field than a parking lot, a concrete texture would obviously be great.

I'm sure we'll get more path textures though. Or at least I'd hope so. If not that, then there'll certainly be colorable concrete blocks.

You're right. I meant look different to the parks people are already building in PC. My point was that under very large rides, whatever the park, they're gonna need a large concrete foundation that would normally extend beyond the relatively small base area beneath PC rides.

Interestingly there is a great concrete slab texture underneath the bases of raised rides... Just can't use it on top of the base though lol.

Well, actually most parks are built in forests, so not grass, dirt. I always wanted a mulch texture, or rocks, concrete, etc.

I would like to have concrete tbh, it would make the park more clean sometimes ^^

+1

Would love to have this as well.

And im pretty positive we will get this. We only have a few ground textures yet, more will probably be added.

It would also be nice if we could switch to a square brush to paint the terrain also, so that we can make sqyare corners.

I have to agree with Square tools. This is needed for both the paint and tera-forming tools i think. Would make some stuff work so much better, like trying to create man made canals and not just rounded edge ones.

Real parks are not built with a few buttons [big grin] Personally I think a park without pavement (irl) would be interesting like carnivals and such are cool!

In this case we need a portable type roller coaster if we want to make carnivals.

Yea I like that idea [up] Ive thought about it before though and its basically a junior/mini coaster, right?

Or Schwarzkopf! One of my favorite manufacturers.

The big issue with a concrete brush is the fact that guests can't walk on it. That's kind of the elephant in the room--the pathfinding still appears to be node-based in a way, and I imagine the AI is too difficult to work out when the path is just an open area.
