Log flume remove need for hill entry/exit pieces

Posted this in Beta forums before they went, but if possible could you remove the need to place those two special pieces on ending a lift hill and starting a drop?

I do understand the point of putting the lift hill exit piece in and tbh that's quite a nice little edition as it ensures that your logs don't get stuck if the ride breaks down and means you get some guaranteed momentum, but the piece to start a drop means we can't do the classic double hill drops that are a staple of so many flumes

EDIT: two examples to show what I mean off the top of my head would be logger's leap at Thorpe Park or ripsaw falls at Islands of Adventure. No doubt there are a lot more as well

Definitely agree with this. I'm sure it's something they'll address after the launch is out the way if they don't include it.

Not to drag up a 2yr old thread, but has this ever been resolved? My guess is "no", but are there even any in-game workarounds that allow for a simple transition from a hill up to a hill down without getting the goofy "\__/" in between? I haven't been able to figure this out and didn't see the reason to start another thread asking the same question... Thanks!

You're not alone. Finding this has saved me from making my own post. This has to be a no brainer right? I'm suprised there isn't more clamor for it. Makes many remakes completely wrong and disjointed.

Hoping more people will voice on this even though the thread is so old.

Perhaps a new ride with less restrictions?

Do most real life flumes have the little belt before the drop? I don't think RCT3 log flume had this. In Planet Coaster there's no way to make a lift and drop without the belt. I like the supports much better on Planet Coaster's version though.

None of the ones I've been on have it.

I've never been on one that had it... I don't think I've ever even seen one online either. It feels so disjointed from the log flumes I know and love.

Log flumes that uses straight bits between hills and drops have the belts before the drops as well.

The log flume in Chessington has it.
The one in Walibi Holland as well.

Where you won't see it is when the drop follows immediately from the hill. Obvious, because there is no need for it. That's where the game needs adjustment.

Sounds like a European thing. I've been on loads of log flumes in the states with straights immediately followed by drops with no belts.

Couple Examples:

Knott's Berry Farm Log ride

Disneyland Splash mountain

Both have drops in the dark which would be ruined by a preceding belt in my opinion. Kills the surprise factor.

Some have belts and some have bars....I assume for safety in case they have to stop a boat before the drop.

All the ones at Disney and Universal here in Florida has them, same with the Six Flags parks I visited. It is for safety to be able to stop the boats before the drop if needed (or to space them out more if they are too close to each other since different logs might travel at different speeds depending on the load). This Frontier got spot on.

I think we're getting beside the point.

With the way the game currently is you cannot have:

- a drop immediately following a lift hill without the need for two separate belts
- a double drop
- a drop without a belt

I think we can all agree drop functionality should be changed to accommodate at least one of these things.

Agree with all points made. At the very least I'd like to see the start of a drop reconfigured so that you can go directly from lift to drop. And while we're at it, I would love to have the bottom of the drop softened up. The pullout is so severe that it would snap everyone's neck in real life.

Good point about the pullout. I wish we had more profile freedom.

It's possible to make a not so steep drop without the belt piece before the drop. But then you can't have a splash pool at the bottom.

The pullout on the water coaster's splash piece is also way too severe.

The drop should definitely get reconfigured...
I hate the part with water on a lift and drop hill!
I could work without the extra belt... a light barrier sensor could stop the belt until the drop zone is clear.
At least a short straight belt after the lifthill but no water segment!
