Product Update - Planet Coaster is coming to Steam

Good news indeed, 200+ games on steam and now i get to add another one to my lovely list instead of wasting space with another launcher. Thank you very much.

And people complaining about steam... That's classic. At least steam is actively battling fake CD keys, Let's face it. With there own launcher they'd be easily pirated and cracked but with steam, Not as easy. At least most people don't want to run the risks for it.

depends if the games have active DRM that require you to run steam (which is available to include through the steamworks API)

and I have a shameful 834 games and 613 DLC, but will be happy to add planet coaster to the list :D yay ^^ hopefully it has trading cards so we can have background profiles and emoticons :)

I linked in the beginning of this thread to the limited steam accounts info and such, but i didn't mention that i don't mind to use Steam. Some complain with one new launcher, but i have at least 8 currently installed and i am still alive. In the end i just want to play the games. Of course there are still some bad launchers/stores and in the beginning a lot of the launchers were bad (memory, privacy, downtime, not remembering passwords ... problems), but they all run ok now. In the end i just have a shortcut of the games i play on my desktop.

Now let the streams begin with all the new goodness about alpha 3.

Thnx Frontier <3 Nice to see the Game on Steam!

But One Question, will we get a small Conetnt Update till 23rd of August? Or will the next update be the port to Alpha 3? thnx.

Since I am an alpha player (early bird) can I somehow export the game into steam and play from my steam profile with all my parks etc?

Hello!

Your parks and saves will remain in the transition to Steam, much in the same way as they did from Alpha 1 to Alpha 2.
Because of all the improvements we're adding to the game, there's a small chance there might be a couple of tweaks and changes you'll need to make to your parks to get them back to exactly how they were. We hope all the cool stuff we're adding will make you want to update your parks anyway!
That said, we're doing our best to make sure any kinks are as minimal as possible :D

Thanks for answering so quick!

If Alpha 2 parks are compatible with Alpha 3, i would imagine it would be a simple drag and drop from the old save location into the new save location.

So will I loose the park I have made so far and will I lose all the coasters that I built? I have made some great ones and will the info and account be saved ? I would like to have saved the Coasters.

Thank you any info

It's an alpha. Losing ALL your progress is completely normal. The idea is to test the game, try to break bits of it, fill in bug reports and help the developers squash bugs.

I don't think there will be any need to change the save location at all. Planet Coaster uses the default Windows Saved Games folder. There's no reason they can't save games to the same location on Steam.

Wow, I didn't know that Steam keys which actually remove limited account restriction exist. Not bad! About the 30% cut from Steam: 30% is a bargain for what Steam offers to developers. It definitely is going to be worth it for Frontier.

Aren't steam saves always located in the steam folder?

(It seems all my steam savegames do, but i dont know if this is a 100% thing)

my games all depends on where the developer puts it, can be in the windows saved games folder. or my documents/my games. or even in appdata :) so it doesn't matter, steam would however upload it compressed to the steam cloud so it can synchronize with any other machine :D

Very excited to hear these great news. Very much looking forward to late august. A question however! With the integration of stream, does this mean you will implement coop-building with your buddies for parks using streams MP friend servers?

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.
Seems it's just a matter of luck then that all my savegame's are at the same SteamApps folder.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Delighted to hear Planet Coaster will get a Steam release. For people worried about it, don't be, it's a great platform.

oh my yes, steam is an amazing platform. and especially if they decide to allow linux and macOS play too since steam has crossplay all platforms are still in the same place :D and I can finally use my steam controller officially without weird custom custom profiles :D it would just be custom profiles

Just want to say that I'm really pleased about the steam release. Just need to announce Steam Workshop support now ;-)

Well they actually did. The whole community sharing system will be built around the Steam Workshop. Only thing to be desired now would be custom scenery to be imported from 3rd party software, but I think the current system will already be a huge step in the right direction [up]
