1 Million units sold

I'm sure that the main reason for people still playing those original games is because they enjoy playing those games. The original RCT, RCT2 and RCT3 were and still are great games. Classic, but still great in providing many hours of fun.

Another reason is surely the fact not everyone got a NASA supercomputer at their disposal to play PC... [wink]

1 Million is an impressive figure! I'm glad PC is doing so well. After 10 years finally the rollercoasters roll again!

And hopefully now some folks will stop saying "they can't afford to keep updating this game 'for free'"... [big grin]

Well they kinda grind to a halt because of the strong friction though.. Okay I'll see myself out.

1 million sales is great and I can't wait to see how the game will evolve in the coming years!

YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS its sad cause its true tho ;-; and grats on 1 mil. thats 1 million people breaking their necks cause of unsmooth coasters and poor transitions on boomerang coasters i still love the game tho.

This is great news for the support and development of planet coaster and suggests further support into next year. Awesome. Well done frontier you deserve the impressive sales figures.

Well done Frontier, and we haven't had a mega sale yet which will boost numbers further. Especially as its a single player game.

The PC market is completely different now when RCT and The Sims were selling loads of games to casual market. You only have to look at some of the download numbers for mobile games.

I agree with this -- there are numerous reasons why RCT3 has sold so many copies, not least because it's had long periods at a low price. I think PC is still seen as less of a casual game, primarily due to its relatively high hardware requirements. I think we'll see a similar sort of sales profile with PC over time as higher-powered hardware becomes more ubiquitous and the price of the game drops, but only if the game becomes moddable in some form (either officially or unofficially).

I honestly am shocked it took this long, I thought for sure PC sold 1 million in pre-orders alone. But this makes it seem as though its not doing very well. It started selling back in early 2016, and just now almost 18 months later it hit the 1 million mark?? According to wikipedia, Planet Coaster sold 400,000 units in its first month, does that include pre-orders because I don't consider that a good number. This game should have sold better than that :(

You have to also remember that you cant go to a local store like Walmart, Best Buy, or Gamestop and pick up the game itself like you can with the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. There are some people that I know that want their games in hand instead of using a site like steam to download games.

In fact, My last visit to my local Best Buy store was about 4 weeks ago and I decided to go to their PC game section and I saw that they had a couple copies of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on the shelf while there was no copies of Planet Coaster.

However, one million units is still impressive.

I don't shop in stores for electronics very often, but Planet Coaster is available in a box edition at select retailers, including amazon

However, by not selling box editions, this might save frontier money on distribution (possibly, Im not 100% sure on that though)

Congrats! [big grin] And thanks to the entire team for all your hard work and dedication to making a EXCELLENT game!

Congratulations to Frontier and Planet Coaster! What a great milestone!

I think unfortunately, the Theme Park Sim style game isn't as big as it was back when RCT 1, 2 & 3 were around. EVERYONE I know played those games, the same as the Sims etc. Now, most people only play the AAA titles, so games like PC get a little left behind to the small market it has. I personally think that 1 million is a great number, and would love to see it go higher over the coming years [happy]

Congrats Frontier! No surprise here though, it's a great game, I KNEW it would do well!

Now let's see how good Planet Zoo Tycoon will do!!
